Groups of 3 are tripe as we saw at the World Cup and Masters going to have 3 tournaments with the same group format ffs.

I still maintain the current format is fine I would have just brought in draws so either 5-5 or first to 6 and that would have stopped a lot of dead rubbers. The issue is the qualifying Criteria. I also would start it on a Friday Night so the SFs and Final are separate days

Is there a chance they do 16 groups and top two go through? That would mean every game mattered but clog up another couple of days.

If they are going to bastardise this by removing the “champion of champions” element by just chucking in players based on ranking even if they haven’t won/beeen runner up in anything in the last year they may aswell just scrap the GSOD all together and come up with a new name.

The only problem with the previous qualification was the stupid 8 places for the qualifer that stopped actually winners from having spots. Cut that down to one or two max and it would have been fine.
Team Corvid 2025 consists of the following 12 players.

Clayton, Littler, Gilding, De Sousa, Wright, Evans, Campbell, Scutt, Lauby, Rob Owen, Patrick Geeraets and Justin Hood.

I would seriously absolutely fucking love it if Ross the Boss was given a place in the GSOD.

Would you vote for expanding the Matchplay or Grand Prix?

Let's assume the format doesn't get any better or worse
No way. Matchplay shouldn't be diluted, and Grand Prix isn't worth expanding.

The Grand Slam is OK to expand for me because:
(1) It's always had the aspect of giving some new/young players opportunities.
(2) An expanded field means all the ET and PC winners should get an invite. Previously a lower-ranked player winning a PC would know that they weren't going to make it unless they could at least double up, and even then might not make it.

48 should guarantee the Pro Tour winners. Last year there were 34 TV finalists, affiliates and winners, with 10 PC winners who either didn't make it (Searle, Heta, Van Barneveld, Dobey, Dolan, Soutar, Clayton, Plaisier) or made it via the qualifiers (Noppert, Ross Smith and Menzies).

They could add more of the lesser affiliates, and still keep 8 TCHQs. Or, I'd cut the base number of TCHQs to 4, and take Pro Tour finalists to add possibility of giving a bit more back to the Pro Tour, and then expand the TCHQs if the numbers still don't add up to 44.

Fuck giving it 4 places should only be for one place or 2 max. The rest I agree with.
