There's a fascinating bit on the wiki page for that OFAH episode.

It says they wanted 'Hole in One' to open series 4, and had actually started filming it with Granddad but had to cancel it when Lennard Pearce died. They then remade the episode with Uncle Albert. I don't know if it's true. How much would you like to see that original footage?

If it existed it would be in the public domain by now?

That sounds like an interesting rabbit hole.

It is definitely real. The scenes were they push Uncle Albert out of the court in a wheelchair, forgetting that he can actually walk, had been filmed with Lennard Pearce.

Thursday 23rd February 1950.

75 years ago today. The first coverage of a General Election airs on BBC TV. The results programme ran until 1am, much later than the regular service which generally ended around 10.30pm. Only around 350,000 television licences were held.

Clement Attlee's Labour Party was returned to power with a slim majority, as Winston Churchill's Conservative Party increased its seats a bunch.

How the Radio Times covered that week and night.

Fill in the results as they come in! You were having so much fun 75 years ago tonight.

Wednesday 22nd February 1995.

I remember knowing about the Coca-Cup semi-final: Liverpool v Crystal Palace. The 2nd leg is listed on ITV on this night, but apparently it was played on 8th March: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1994%E2%8 ... emi-finals

Robbie Fowler scored the only goal in both legs. Liverpool beat Bolton 2-1 in the final.

The 1st leg between Liverpool vs Crystal Palace was on the same day as the infamous Republic of Ireland vs England match which was abandoned. This would be unheard of nowadays

Monday 24th February 1997.

28 years ago today. The 52nd and final episode of The Brittas Empire airs on BBC1: 'Curse of the Tiger Women'.

A sensationally bad ending to a wonderful show in my view.

Monday 24th February 1992.

Does anyone remember Mulberry? The first episode aired 33 years ago yesterday, at 8pm on BBC1.

The first episode of The Addams Family is on BBC2 at 6pm.
