I think the reason Cock gets treated harsher than the rest is because he's talked himself up since his big breakthrough year.

You mentioned Van Veen as a comparison, Van Veen has never won a senior PDC title. He could've won that Euro Tour vs Van Gerwen but hasn't been that close apart from it.

Rock by contrast has won what seems like loads and been to loads of floor finals/TV events now. But he's talking about winning TV events and being in the Premier League, so people are getting their expectations up.
