And then again in 2021 when Covid meant that the Challenge Tour was also split in two and started in the summer, hence players like Barstow and the RJRs who just missed out had the consolation of knowing they effectively had a 1-year tour card

Also remember that pre-2020 (or 2021?) the EU Q School was early and the UK Q School was after the BDO Worlds. EU BDO players could choose to attend the UK Q School.

Once they went to the 2-stage system with simultaneous Q School, having the first CT weekend after the Q Schools made a lot more sense as it allowed more of the well-supported, long-distance travellers to stay for one week more and see if it would be worth playing the CT for call-ups.
