Interesting her gold is weighted so much higher than all the others
Think it was how she dominated and had been doing so all year I believe
And not because she's blonde good looking
OK
Did fatima or tessa win?
Maybe they should have at the time, I remember during the Olympics looking forward to tuning in to watch Hodgkinson's race because there was a lot of hype surrounding her. I can't be the only one. I don't think we won loads of Golds on the track in Paris did we?
On the track zero but plenty of others
Just unnaturally fixated on her for some strange reason

Well we know most eyes for the average viewer are on the track events at the Olympics so it's obvious she's more popular than most other Olympic gold medalists because of that. She won Gold at the Europeans as well this year and set a British national record at 800m. I think she was a deserved winner

Had she looked like the back end of a bus she wouldn't have won.

Who are the middle 2?
Beth Mead and Mary Earps. England footballers. Earps is a goalkeeper. The runners-up in those years were Ben Stokes and Stuart Broad.
Nobody cares about women's football ffs
Earps (funny name) had been prominent in the news that year for complaining about her England goalkeeper shirt not being available in shops. There was a bit of a social media flurry about it which I'm sure helped to raise her profile immensely. Justice for women, girls, etc. It's how I first knew about her.

This thing is fully NONSENSE. It's just a bit of fluff. I can't understand why it's taken so seriously.

Just done a quick ask around the office and Keely Hodgkinson was almost a pointless answer. One guy had heard the name and knew she went to the olympics but couldnt tell you what sport.
Getting past the fact that Littler shouldn't be up for it as darts is a game, not a sport, its a very good game; there is no fucking way more people voted for an olympic gold medalist runner than a viral sensation.

Young Personality of the Year Luke Littler, speaking to BBC One: "It just goes to show how well I have done this year.

"Not only for myself, but I have changed the sport of darts.

"I know the amount of academies that have been brought up in different locations, how big the sport has got.

"Tickets selling out with the Ally Pally in hours and the Premier league selling out - it just goes to show how much I have changed it."

Earps was widely regarded as the best Goalkeeper in the World in Women's football (admittedly a very, very low bar), but I suspect she only won because 2023 was a dire year for sport in the UK - England making the final of the Women's World Cup was probably the big highlight (it was also on the BBC - Earps saved a penalty in the final as well).

Essentially, men who can't get laid and often develop a warped view on women as a result.
