BDO Masters not being Televised ?

Surely the BBC wouldn't disregard the Masters all together?

The red button or the BBC website should be the options if they are not showing it on any of their 4 channels

Given the raised profile of Darts in general of late i would have thought it the chance for the beeb to cash in on the good success SKY have been having and show more darts not less.
They have a competition in the Masters which has great history and should be packaging and pushing it more, not hiding it from viewers, cutting it to highlights and the red button.
BBC still clearly regard darts as an uncultured sport that doesn't fit into the type of viewer the channel really want.

There was an article yesterday that the BBC may not be renewing the F1 when the deal expires, think 2013 as they are trying slash their budget so for something like the World Masters which will not receive any figures like F1 I think they would drop darts in a minute

I would think darts would offer great value compared to something like F1 which i imagine costs way more in terms of contracts.
I just dont think they push darts hard enough so clearly the viewing figures wont be high. Vicious circle.

On a cost basis definately Frog. Would a whole week of lakeside (which still gets reasonable ratings) cost as much as a single FA Cup game or a day at the Open Golf?

If true then i'd want to know their reason, because as you say it's the oldest major going.
If it's because it doesn't get the viewing figures then who is to blame for that when you have piss poor coverage and little advertising.
If it's because of the quality of the darts then what's their excuse for still holding the Lakeside?

Would the Beeb getting a PDC event just confuse the casual viewer though? Come January they will be like "Where is Taylor, he was in the one back in summer?"

You aint a casual viewer though. Im on about people who will just watch it because its on. People still say to me "why isnt Taylor at Lakeside", I have to despair.

Thats a bit different. Some people will be unaware a "split" occurred. I have asked in the past there is no Phil Taylor at Lakeside.

I've been watching Lakeside before and been asked "When's Taylor Playing" and then explained there's two bodies in darts. If this rumour is true though there will be a load of compare and contrast amongst casual darts fans.

Indeed, the opposite will happen. Hence why I cant see one broadcaster dipping their fingers in both pies, but we shall see.
