There is no downward spiral when I'm involved, glorious failure maybe but no downward spiral.

Just seen this.

Here. Read this.

Started playing poker at the local 10 weeks ago. Was just sat having a pint and this lass asked "you playing?". Me "cost owt?". Her "no". Me "ok but I've only ever played online, so help us out". First game I've ever played face to face.

Spent the first 10 weeks playing (on purpose) like an idiot. "will (a hand I did or didn't have) beat (a hand I knew someone had)". Fucking up the dealing and checking when I should be betting to fool them.

Got to second in the pub out of 44 players. Looks like I've made the regional finals. Win the regional and you get some prize money and a place at the national. Overall prize fund (split) is £1million.

When done we lock the doors and have a cash game. Now, money is involved, so I give up the pretence that I don't know what I'm doing. Keep clearing up. Won both cash games Monday night.

If you have a venue near you which does this, get there. It is a quality night out. Look forward to it every week. Really good laugh....and it's free (post league cash games are optional).

Didn't have the best of nights in the league on Monday. Been arguing with that DBG "cash game" wanker about how to have played this since, well just Tuesday afternoon. I think he's wrong.

I got a straight on the flop. Only me and the (just) chip leader remained after the first round of betting, I was only about 100 chips behind, we were about 6,000ish each and the rest were clinging on with fuck all but there was still 8 players dealt. Flush was unlikely as I had two suited in the hole and there were three unsuited on the table, no pair. Blinds were very high. I went all in to get the pot or take her out. She called me. There was a jack on the table and two others which made up my straight. Turned them over, she had two jacks and the trip with the one on the table, but I had the straight. Looking good. Turn, still winning then what comes out river? A fourth jack!

I still maintain I made the right play and she just got lucky. DBG reckons I played it wrong. I don't agree.

Thoughts.
RIP Tom Hopkins.

I recall doing some very similar things a few years back. I'd get a bad beat in a cash game, go on tilt until I'm down to $10, transfer the money to the casino and then hit the slot machines until there's nothing left.. It's like I find it impossible to walk away after losing a fraction of my money, I have to blow the whole lot.

Not sure I'd have gone all-in straight away. You were unlucky to lose if there was no sign of a flush. But why did you go all-in when, if she didn't have a hand, you'd simply have taken the blinds? But there's nothing you could have done, she wasn't going to fold trips.

Do you remember the exact cards on the flop and turn?

EDIT: What were your hole cards and who acted first pre flop? DId you raise?

I had 9, Q, in the hole (suited, the same as the jack on the flop, which took the flush out imo, so it was worth the risk), flop was 8, 10, J (all off suit). Turn was a 2, river; a jack. We'd had two rounds of betting pre flop and I reckoned she had a jack or 10 pair so I saw the flop then I had the straight and she'd raised twice pre flop on a pair in the hole, I was on the big blind and it was up to 1K so I had to play. She acted first post flop on trips and bet half her pot so I went all in. I suspected she had trips (J or 10s) but I thought it was worth the risk to take her out of the game and more or less double my chips.

Still think I made the right call and DBG is a wanker. Can't wait to play him. You're going to get beat Daveyboy.

stack sizes and blinds needed to see if pre is ok.

other than that , nothing much you can do post flop all the money going in on the flop or the turn here , you got a bad beat , suck it up move on. the board could of also paired and you would of lost (not just the case jack) .

dont dwell on it , when all the money went in you were ahead , thats all you can ever ask in poker.

Well it's going to take a small miracle for me not to make the regional finals now.

http://www.championspoker.co.uk/testven ... enue=10410

7th and 45 points ahead of 8th, below 7th is the cut off point. Not had the best fortnight. Played far too safe to make sure I got the regional finals position...You get 10 points for turning up so I think all I have to do is turn up next Monday and hope the two who are on the national leaderboard don't have stinkers. The rest of the points are determined on how many turn up, which has got fewer and fewer. We believed this was the last week but it turns out it's next Monday. Then Manchester for the regional finals. Shitting it already and it's not 100% confirmed.

You may be playing poker for years and still not to know how to play it properly. Poker is an engaging gambling game. And many professional players have already described and share all possible strategies and secrets of winnings. You just need patience and time to learn them. I love to play poker in Rich Prize casino online. Here you can get good results if you manoeuvre properly.
