Nobody "deserves" a tour card, mate. They're earned with blood, sweat and tears! (and a favourable draw...)

You know what I meant bud
They are good enough to play on tour and I think the system could be improved
The truth, however ugly in itself, is always curious and beautiful to seekers after it.

I was being a tad facetious but agree that Scutt and Szaganksi can do bits.

Excellent work yet again 1205! Seems if you get £25k ish in year 1 you give yourself a decent chance of retaining your card, anything less and you'll need a big year. Let's say £80k will be the target again, Lee Evans and Slevin are on target for that, there is hope for the likes of Kuivenhoven, Burton and Klose who have been decent in the second half of the season, Brown and de Zwaan are in the same sort of position on paper but they have been in terrible form over the second half of the season after a bright start to 20231205 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2023 1:54 am

To be considered a professional dart player you have to earn just over the UK average wage. That seems reasonable, earn your own living etc.

I think you want 30. 55k is about 40th, while 50k is more high 40s year to date.thegentle wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2023 7:49 am Excellent work yet again 1205! Re: 2022 Q-School
Doets and Pietreczko managed to keep their cards having earned just less than £25k in 2022 (Pietreczko very easily in the end), Mario would have needed £23.5k (that's if he's not going to be reprieved) Scutt would have needed £27.5k. With Szaganski unfortunately only making £16.5k in year 1, £20.75k would have been enough for him to keep his card...1205 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2023 2:34 amI think you want 30. 55k is about 40th, while 50k is more high 40s year to date.thegentle wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2023 7:49 am Excellent work yet again 1205! Re: 2022 Q-School
Actually, with the worlds (dartsrankings was unavailable for a while), 55k is currently 48th. But I still think it's not that easy.thegentle wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2023 3:59 amDoets and Pietreczko managed to keep their cards having earned just less than £25k in 2022 (Pietreczko very easily in the end), Mario would have needed £23.5k (that's if he's not going to be reprieved) Scutt would have needed £27.5k. 32nd on Pro Tour was 24.25
7.5 WC 1st round
2.5 PCF 1st round
10 WC 1st round win
2.5 UK Open last 64
That's 46.75.
So a player has to play decently, and win a game at the Worlds, but still has to find something above that for 50k. Need 55k then makes that job harder.
Doets reached a PC final, the 5th round of the UK Open and 2nd round of the PC Finals. That added an extra 13k to the above and he earned 59k for the year.
Just that extra 5k in the first year makes a big difference as a PC semi-final or Grand Slam qualification added to the above would be enough.

Re: 2022 Q-School
Just a slight correction, a Worlds first round win is worth £7.5k, winning the second round is worth an extra £10k. Clearly there's no set figure to aim for in year 1 with players developing at different rates (and of course with the possibility of players dropping off tour, it looks like at least one of Lennon ans Mario will be saved, and Beaton will save one lucky jobber next year), but I think someone like Klose (and to a lesser extent Burton even though he's been on the tour before), in his first year on tour has done pretty well to reach the Players Championship Finals and bank £26k, he'll hope with a year's experience under his belt he can go a little better and keep his card. It's not Kuivenhoven's first rodeo, he has experience of dragging himself back from an under par first year, unfortunately Jeffrey hasn't shown anything more than flashes for a few years now, I do wonder if we'll ever see the same guy who thrilled on his Matchplay debut. Brown halfway through this year I thought would be A-OK, he was good in 2022 too so I thought it was business as usual, but he's fallen off a cliff1205 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2023 4:35 amActually, with the worlds (dartsrankings was unavailable for a while), 55k is currently 48th. Re: 2022 Q-School
But it is a pretty relentless grind, £45k looks good for Lee Evans, but he got £7.5k of that for beating a relative nobody at the Worlds, for which he only qualified for by a few grand in the first place. If he gets a bitch of a first round draw next year he could well be in trouble, let alone if he fails to make it (even by the barest of all margins). As good as they can be, I think even the likes of Ricky Evans and Scott Williams (44th and 45th for the year so far on £58k and £57.75k respectively) won't be taking their places on tour for granted considering how difficult they've found it at times this year
