Sadly consigned to obscure history is Wesley

Imagine bumping into casual mongs on a PL night only there for Littler and saying you yearn for the olden days of Newton

If you said it to me I'd give you a slightly funny look.

If Wez Newton was playing unregulated darts in my garden, I’d close the curtains.

2004 player

Who was it?
The names in my head are Les Hodkinson and Robbie Widdows.
The answer was Dave Jowett, I believe he qualified via the PDPA qualifier for it. Got to 4 UK Opens and hasn't played much since 2008.

EDIT - He played in the PDC Worlds at the last ever one at the Tavern

He is one of those vaguely recognisable names that I don't have a face for.

I have him as one of 4 qualifiers for the 2004 Matchplay:

Robbie Green... lost the opening game to Bob Anderson 10-7.
Colin Monk... famously chinned by John Part 10-0.
Dave Smith
Dave Jowett

I never warmed to Wes Newton. Came across as a bit smug.

He was billed as the Lancashire version of Taylor in his early days

Only caught the tail end of him 2010/11 ish onwards but early days 'Av It' Wes seemed like a cockier Aspinall

That's ok. I have a paper print out of that tournament and I wrote a 'Q' next to the 4 players I mentioned so I expect that is accurate.

I half intend to scan my print outs one day and post them on here. Some of them are tremendously embarrassing, pure autism.

That would have been the second full PDC event I watched.

Looking through the results, I only remember the final. It's possiblt that I was on holiday that week. Hmm.

Burgess beating Spineless 15-13 in a first round tie-break looks a highlight.
