Re: Which dart players with near misses will never win a major/TV title
Duzza and Smith obviously proved me incorrect. Credit to both, especially the former who I admittedly underrated a bit as a player. I still feel Smith is overrated in line with his 2013 hype, which many forget.
I don't count the PDC Masters as a PDC major, so Bunting is yet to prove me incorrect in terms of winning a major.

I will be a bit surprised if Chizzy wins a PDC Premier event, let alone a major.

All PDC premier events are classed as majors, that’s official, but I guess the word of a few on here is right and not the PDC.sennafan24 wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 3:36 pm I will be a bit surprised if Chizzy wins a PDC Premier event, let alone a major.

I know you are upset about last night, but there is no need to be so passive aggressive.HalloweenJack wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 6:31 pmAll PDC premier events are classed as majors, that’s official, but I guess the word of a few on here is right and not the PDC.sennafan24 wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 3:36 pm I will be a bit surprised if Chizzy wins a PDC Premier event, let alone a major.
The PDC class most of their TV events as Premier events. I adopt the snooker model and only classify a percentage of these events as majors (Worlds, PL, MP, Open, GSOD, GP)

The pdc would class 2 tramps pissing up a wall as a major event if they could make a buck out of it

The European Championship and Players both have qualification criteria, I don't know why they get held to a lower regard than some of the others.

Short format weekend events are not in the same tier as real majorsTheMalteseDart wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 7:58 pm The European Championship and Players both have qualification criteria, I don't know why they get held to a lower regard than some of the others.

Open has a larger field competing over the 3 days and has been around 5 years longer.TheMalteseDart wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 8:33 pmSenna mentioned the UK Open as a majorThe Thorn wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 8:01 pmShort format weekend events are not in the same tier as real majorsTheMalteseDart wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 7:58 pm The European Championship and Players both have qualification criteria, I don't know why they get held to a lower regard than some of the others.
I'm not arsed if people consider the other two events as majors or not. I think it is reasonable to discount the Open as a major too. I value all of them far more than the Masters and World Series finals.

Due to history the UK Open is above the other 2. But I don't put it on the same tier as Matchplay, Grand Prix, Grand Slam.TheMalteseDart wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 8:33 pmSenna mentioned the UK Open as a majorThe Thorn wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 8:01 pmShort format weekend events are not in the same tier as real majorsTheMalteseDart wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 7:58 pm The European Championship and Players both have qualification criteria, I don't know why they get held to a lower regard than some of the others.

I loathe putting the current version of the GSOD above the Open. The GSOD is dull as fuck nowadays, while the Open is my second favourite darts event. The Thorn wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 8:56 pmDue to history the UK Open is above the other 2. But it's probably sensible to do so.

Shame that the Open isn't a bit longer... maybe over a Bank Holiday to stretch it out a tad..
It all seems a bit rushed

You could argue the GSOD has been dull since Ted last appeared in it.sennafan24 wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 8:58 pmI loathe putting the current version of the GSOD above the Open. It was a cracking little stroke in fairness.
