Good days. A strong BDO and PDC.
Must be a bit dull on the forums these days with PDC dominating and WDF accepting its Amateur status.

It's hard to believe how good Trina used to be when she throws such turd these days.

The Fordham-Barney semi was a cracking match - I remember watching it with my non-darts following cousin and he was more engrossed than me by the end.

2004 was the last great Lakeside wasn't it?

Enjoying these old games. To be fair to Lakeside it had a proper initmate atmosphere which suited big darts games perfectly. Wouls like to a PDC event at a club style venue again. Even Purfleet had that same feel about it. The big souless venues do get boring after a while

Fordham stuns Barneveld

Fordham held his nerve to win a thrilling contest
Andy Fordham beat defending champion Raymond van Barneveld 5-4 to reach the Lakeside World Championship final.
'The Viking' held his nerve in a thrilling match, coming back from 3-0 and 4-2 down in sets to win.

Van Barneveld, the three-time champion, appeared unsettled in the later stages, as Fordham began hitting the trebles with alarming regularity.

Fordham will play Mervyn King in the final after he beat Tony O'Shea 5-1 in the other semi-final.

Fordham, a four-time semi-finalist, looked down and out when the Dutch superstar raced into a three-set lead.

But Van Barneveld became distracted in the fourth set - the last before the interval - and Fordham stepped in to reel off three straight legs.

He reduced the deficit to one set with a 3-2 success in the fifth, only for Van Barneveld to responded by taking the next.

But Fordham, 41, won six of the next nine legs, nailing double 16 to take the match to a deciding set.

The tension was mounting, and both players began missing chances, but it was Fordham who held his nerve to close out the match with double two.

"I went 4-2 down and told myself I had nothing to lose," said Fordham.

"I just kept going and the darts started to go in.

"Raymond also played well and it's one of the best games of darts I've been involved in."

Meanwhile, world number one Trina Gulliver claimed her fourth successive women's title with a 2-0 win over Francis Hoenselaar.

The Leamington Spa ace won the opening set 3-1 and the players shared the next four legs before Gulliver hit double five to seal victory.

Mervyn King booked his place in the Lakeside World Championship final with a 5-1 demolition of Tony O'Shea.
'The King' justified his status as third seed with a dominant display, just missing a nine-darter in the first set.

O'Shea had beaten second seed Ted Hankey in the quarter-finals, but rarely troubled King.

King will play England's Andy Fordham in the final, after he ousted Dutch top seed Raymond van Barneveld.

King, who was asked to play again just 15 hours after his epic Quarter-final with Ritchie Davies, said: "I'd love to go out there and support Raymond van Barneveld, who is a good friend.

"But I think I'm going to have something to eat and go to sleep.

"Mentally it's not a problem, it's the physical aspect of it that is.

"My feet hurt and I haven't had a lot of sleep.

"But I was inconsistent today. I played two or three legs of fantastic darts and then didn't play well for a couple.

"I managed to scrape through but it was only because Tony missed a lot of doubles."

The 37-year-old was disappointed to miss out on a nine-darter, although he quickly regained his composure to take control of the match.

"You can't think about it too much or you'll lose the match," he said.

"I was able to put it out of my mind and responded with a 12-darter at the start of the second set."

Fordham clinches Lakeside title

Fordham picked up £50,000 as the winner
Andy Fordham claimed his first Lakeside World Darts title with a 6-3 win over Mervyn King in the final.
Third seed King rarely found his best form in the match and had to settle for the runner-up position for the second time in his career.

King seemed to have given himself a chance of victory when he fought back from 3-1 down to level at 3-3.

But as he continued to struggle, Fordham rattled off three straight sets to claim the biggest prize in darts.

"I can hardly talk, I'm just over the moon," a tearful Fordham told the BBC after the match.

"When you get to four semis and you lose them all, you think your chance might have gone.

"On the outside I might have looked cool, but when I knew it was getting close I was nearly bursting into tears."

King took the first set as Fordham made a nervous start.

A rueful King said he felt way below his best in the final.

"I don't think it was a fantastic game. I just did not turn up," he said.

"Andy played well, but I was lucky to get the sets I did. I played like a pub player to begin with."

The final: as it happened
Fordham lost the first set and looked nervous, but settled well and opened a 3-1 lead as King failed to find the form that had taken him to the final.

King got himself back into the match by taking the fifth set, and after the mid-session break he levelled the match at 3-3.

But Fordham claimed the seventh set against the darts, and took the eighth, in which all five legs went against serve, to open up a 5-3 lead.

'The Viking' was not unsettled, even when King went two legs up in the ninth set, and he came back with three straight legs to seal his 6-3 win.
