Re: 2024 Players Championship Tour
Fair play they are obviously worried about TC's not playing all midweek events so more money might swing it

That's great news. A grand for winning a game of darts in the lowest tour event.

Re: 2024 Players Championship Tour
To think just a couple of years ago, you'd have needed to win an extra game pretty much across the board to earn the same money as now, excellent news, and much needed with the move to midweeks! My only slight gripe is that you still earn less for winning a second round game compared to a first round game, but in the grand scheme of things, that's very minorThe Thorn wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 9:40 pm Prize money increase announced for 2024...still no first round loser money

Re: 2024 Players Championship Tour
Yeah first round losers money is needed now if the PDC want all 128 TC players to be “professionals” then they need at least so form of guaranteed income.Foggs3355 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2024 1:19 amTbh good prize money it is I would like to see like in snooker round 1 price money don’t count on ranking as all event midweek so like £250 over 30 events it’s £7500The Thorn wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 9:40 pm Prize money increase announced for 2024...still no first round loser money

Still want a snooker shoot out style TV event also featuring all 128 TC holders.
Team Corvid 2024 consists of the following 12 players.
Clayton, Cross, Gilding, De Sousa, Dolan, Evans, Campbell, Krcmar, Lauby, Puha, Szaganski and Turetta

Best of 3 sets 3 legs so game could be won in 4 legs but go to max of 9 legs played

I would like that format but the broadcasters wouldn't allow it due to uncertainty of the length of matches.Foggs3355 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2024 1:33 amThat would a good event to have a totally different format to what they using maybe every gameThe Crow wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2024 1:28 amYeah first round losers money is needed now if the PDC want all 128 TC players to be “professionals” then they need at least so form of guaranteed income.Foggs3355 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2024 1:19 amTbh good prize money it is I would like to see like in snooker round 1 price money don’t count on ranking as all event midweek so like £250 over 30 events it’s £7500The Thorn wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 9:40 pm Prize money increase announced for 2024...still no first round loser money

Re: 2024 Players Championship Tour
I would like it, but it would go against everything Barry Earn has said tbf, I know he often contradicts himself, but only when there's money involved, I don't see how they enrich themselves by giving away first round losers moneyThe Crow wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2024 1:28 amYeah first round losers money is needed now if the PDC want all 128 TC players to be “professionals” then they need at least so form of guaranteed income.Foggs3355 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2024 1:19 amTbh good prize money it is I would like to see like in snooker round 1 price money don’t count on ranking as all event midweek so like £250 over 30 events it’s £7500The Thorn wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 9:40 pm Prize money increase announced for 2024...still no first round loser money

Re: 2024 Players Championship Tour
That's different as it's a long-standing event.
There's a reason every new TV event created in the last 10-15 years is leg play with very similar formats and that is because it reduces variation in the length of the session which TV companies hate.

Re: 2024 Players Championship Tour
Plus Sky presumably has a bit more flexibility as it's a specialist broadcaster but absolutely. ITV is a general channel with responsibilities to general people who for some reason like to be sold other programming too (why?).Captain Hobo wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2024 9:15 amThat's different as it's a long-standing event.

The leg variance would be no different to a BO11 leg game tbf, would like a World Masters style format, it's something different yet keeps the Worlds format sacredCaptain Hobo wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2024 9:15 amThat's different as it's a long-standing event.

Re: 2024 Players Championship Tour
These events are now the only sacred events in darts. Euro Tour is no longer.
Hopefully with some top players pulling out we will see a variety of new faces and exciting CT stand-ins.

Re: 2024 Players Championship Tour
The formats of the Grand Slam and UK Open are very similar to what they've always been, the Matchplay broadly similar, but matches used to be much shorter in terms of legs, the Grand Prix had fewer players, but boy did they make up for that by having some wild formats!oche balboa wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2024 9:53 am No PDC Event has kept the same format, Qualifying criteria etc since it was created
We all know what the qualifying criteria used to be like for the Slam and the Open, what was the qualifying criteria in the early days for the Matchplay and Grand Prix? I imagine with a limited playing pool the criteria was somewhat less sophisticated than what we have now!
