You can only beat what’s in front of you and who else could have feasibly beat him that he didn’t play and already got knocked out?

Dobey and MVG is all I can think of
Let's see:

He beat Christian Kist, 2012 Lakeside champion, 3-0 with a 106 average
He beat Andrew Gilding, the reigning UK Open champion, 3-1 in a tougher scrappy match
He beat Matt Campbell 4-1 with a 97 average (the easiest opponent on paper, probably)
He beat Raymond van Barneveld, a 5-time world champion, 4-1 with a 105 average while Barney averaged over 99
He beat Brendan Dolan, who beat Price and Anderson, 5-1 with a 102 average
He's now beaten Rob Cross, a multiple major winner and former world champion, 6-2 with a 106 average, after a slowish start

It's phenomenal what he's done.

Probably sat in his Barbados beach front villa , watching on, having backed Littler at 250-1 in September after being behind the curtains during the pre filming at the ' Ally Pally mock up ' in Sky Studios.
