Titanium Stems

Post by D & B » Wed Jul 25, 2012 1:32 pm

Anyone tried these?

I've used a aluminium set for a while and got on well with them, they were also good for preventing the flight continously falling out.

They eventually bent out of shape. Looking to invest in a set.

Years back I tried a set of aluminiums and couldn't get on with them. Shredded more flights than I care to remember

To be honest I need to buy a new set of darts, still using the ones that came with the board and cabinet.

I have to say that they're really good just bloody expensive. I use a really short stem and the Unicorn ones are a bit too long for me.

I might have sent my spares to Dicie when he was looking for bits and bobs but I'll have a look tonight and see if I've got any at home for you.

Hi mate. Had a nose around and I found a couple of sets of medium Unicorn xlti titanium stems. Drop me a PM with your address and I'll pop them in the post if you want to give them a try.

I had a set of the Unicorn XLTi titaniums that came with my barney heros. I've got to be honest I threw the best I ever have with them. Unfortunately I did indeed bend one of them and at £7.99 a set I haven't replaced them, must be the scotch in me

The problem I found with the aluminium set was after "Robin Hooding" them, it was impossible to get them tight enough again to fit the flight in perfectly (possibly due to using my teeth to bend them back). After a while the flight would fall out on throw and more often than not the dart would end up in the dartboard stem end first, causing a good sized hole and bending the flight end even more.

The metal is so strong that you really need a pair of pliers to get them back into shape. I 'Robin hooded' mine severaral times and it was always easy to get them back into shape again.

I usually prefer the nylon stem but those titanium jobbies are great

I'll have to have a go at mine with some pliers

What did you bend the stem itself or just the cross cut piece at the top that the flight sits in? If it's the latter I never had a problem whacking that back into shape.

If you bent the prong out by doing a "Robin Hood" I would put an old flight in and the gently bend it back into shape with a pair if pliers. By leaving the flight in it's harder to close the gap too far.

If you chucked yours I'm pretty sure I've got a set if the shorter ones I could pop in the post to you.

Thats exactly what I did, closed the gap too much and couldn't get the flight in.

Yep did that a few times! You can prise them apart carefully again with a pen knife. Never managed to break one yet doing it they really are as tough as old boots. Expensive but I woudd imagine they'd last pretty much forever.

Fair play andy, you don't hang happen.

They look great. Dying to try them out, but won't get a chance until the weekend.

Pint on me in Oxford, pal.

My pleasure mate - they were hanging around useful at my place so more than happy to pass on.

Just out of interest if anyone wants their darts re-pointing at the get together I'll bring my Unitool along. The only thing it can't cope with are those Target laser etched ones but normal points are now problem.
