Gary Butcher is an incredible player when he’s on his game. Played super league with him for years.
Completely forgot McDanger won a card.

Insightful.
He flattered to deceive with his card, had some personal issues. Seems to be happy playing county for Suffolk these days.

Re: Q School Roll of Honour
I was interested in seeing how well the players in the European Q-School have done compared to the UK one, here's how many have kept their cards after 2 years, plus my comments in the quoteoche balboa wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2023 12:25 pm
2018
Day 1: Eddie Dootson, Corey Cadby (got off to a brilliant start before, ahem, disappearing)
Jeffrey de Zwaan (fallen off a cliff due to injuries in the last 3 years, but had a brilliant first three years, beating MvG twice in TV events, making a Matchplay semi and a Worlds last 16)
Day 2: Alan Tabern, Robert Owen
Mario Robbe
Day 3: Arron Monk, George Killington
Tytus Kanik
Day 4: Bradley Brooks, Dawson Murschell
Gabriel Clemens (one of the most consistent of this cohort)
Order Of Merit: (UK): Nathan Aspinall (pretty much an immediate success, established himself as a top player), Ross Smith (solid start, eventually won a TV title), Terry Temple, Ryan Harrington, Simon Stevenson (kept his card due to Cadby and Barney resigning theirs, but nothing spectacular), Gary Eastwood, John Goldie, Matthew Edgar (kept his card until the end of 2021, with a bit of help from Cadby after he pulled out of the 2019 Worlds), Ryan Meikle (got another card via the Development Tour which he did end up keeping after 2 years, in danger of dropping off this year), Ryan Joyce (very consistent from the get go, had a few wobbles, but is now looking at the top 32), Kevin Burness, Tony Newell, Luke Woodhouse (a slow start, but kept his card and is also now looking at the top 32), Peter Hudson, Mark Wilson
Order Of Merit: (EU): Danny Noppert (very solid, top 32 within 2 years, and a major title in 2022), Robert Marjanovic, Dirk van Duijvenbode (showed promise, but no notable results, at least not this time around!), Vincent Kamphuis, Jose Justicia, Davy van Baelen
2019
EU Q School
Day 1: Niels Zonneveld
Day 2: Mike van Duivenbode
Day 3: Christian Bunse
Day 4: Darius Labanauskas (had the best first year of any EUer, very solid first three years before declining after that)
Order Of Merit: Madars Razma (solid but not spectacular start, has done well for himself by getting into the top 32), Marko Kantele, Yordi Meeuwisse, Vincent van der Meer, John Michael, Jose de Sousa (won 2 ProTours in his first year, a Euro Tour and the Grand Slam in year 2, and a Premier League final in year 3. Health issues have meant he's settled as a top 32 player since), Maik Kuivenhoven (had a good 2021, ended up keeping his card thanks to Reyes and Kyle Anderson resigning theirs, but not done much else)
UK Q School
Day 1: Jamie Hughes (won a Euro Tour in his first year, which helped him get into the top 32, has been hindered by a poor Worlds record), Harry Ward (ended up in the top 64 after 2 years, handed his card back)
Day 2: Scott Baker, Mark McGeeney (good 2019, ended up 65th after 2 years but kept his card which he duly lost the next year)
Day 3: Reece Robinson, Matt Clark
Day 4: Nathan Derry, Kirk Shepherd
Order Of Merit: Jonathan Worsley, Glen Durrant (a roller-coaster ride, but will always be a Premier League champion), Carl Wilkinson, Gavin Carlin, Joe Murnan, Adrian Gray, Andy Boulton (kept his card, lost it at the end of 2022), Jamie Bain, Dave Pallett, Conan Whitehead, Barrie Bates
2020
EU Q School
Day 1: Harald Leitinger
Day 2: Mike De Decker (a slow burner, only just kept his card, but has been impressive in the last 2 years)
Day 3: Karel Sedláček
Day 4: Steffen Siepmann
Order of Merit: Dirk van Duijvenbode (after so many years, he finally became an overnight success!), Wesley Harms, Derk Telnekes, Martijn Kleermaker (solid few years on tour, only lost his card at the end of last year as a result of poor form and personal issues), Daniel Larsson, Boris Krčmar (one way or another, he has managed to keep his card), Krzysztof Kciuk
UK Q School
Day 1: Jason Lowe (very solid first two years, lost his way due to injury after that), Gary Blades
Day 2: Kai Fan Leung, Bradley Brooks
Day 3: Jeff Smith (solid for a few years, lost his card at the end of 2022), Aaron Beeney
Day 4: Nick Kenny, Scott Waites
Order of Merit: Adam Hunt (much the same as Jeff Smith), Ryan Murray, Peter Jacques, Damon Heta (already a World Series champion before he even got started on tour, he's been good, top 32 within 2 years, has since won the World Cup and cracked the top 10), Andy Hamilton, Alan Tabern, Wayne Jones, William Borland, Martin C Atkins, Steve Brown, Darren Penhall, Lisa Ashton
2021
EU Q School
Day 1: Geert De Vos
Day 2: Geert Nentjes (boing boing)
Day 3: Florian Hempel (good start, has been a scrap for survival since his very impressive 1st year)
Day 4: Boris Koltsov
Order of Merit: Martin Schindler (finally kicked on, like a poor man's Dirk), Niels Zonneveld, Raymond van Barneveld (not recaptured the old magic, but has got back to the top 32 where he has settled), Zoran Lerchbacher, Adam Gawlas (kept his card, not really through consistency, but from a few random runs every so often), Michael Unterbuchner, John Michael, Robert Marijanović
UK Q School
Day 1: Kirk Shepherd
Day 2: Jason Heaver
Day 3: Jake Jones
Day 4: Scott Mitchell
Order Of Merit: Jack Main, Andrew Gilding (probably the most unlikely major winner, didn't even make the Worlds his first year back!), Martin Lukeman (took a while to adapt, had a spectacular second year, had some personal issues last year but was still quietly impressive), Lewy Williams (good first year, ended up keeping his card but has since declined), Eddie Lovely, Alan Soutar (average on the floor, but a good Worlds record which did get him into the top 32 briefly, but didn't help him when his form declined last year. Will be a challenge to stay on tour this year), Joe Murnan (good first year which kept him his card, lost it at the end of last year), Gordon Mathers, Peter Hudson, Jonathan Worsley, Brett Claydon, John Brown, Danny Baggish
2022
EU Q School
Day 1: José Justicia
Day 2: Brian Raman
Day 3: Luc Peters
Day 4: Krzysztof Kciuk
Order Of Merit: Mario Vandenbogaerde (good 2023, has won his card back), Jules van Dongen (ditto Mario), Kevin Doets (average 2022, good 2023, looking to kick on now), Tony Martinez, Danny Jansen, Radek Szagański (ditto Mario and Jules), Damian Mol, Jimmy Hendriks, Ricardo Pietreczko (average 2022, but ended up the pick of the EU bunch, won a Euro Tour and will surely will make the top 32 soon), Vladimir Andersen, Rowby-John Rodríguez (very good 2022, average 2023 and is now in danger of losing his card)
UK Q School
Day 1: James Wilson
Day 2: Darren Webster
Day 3: Ross Montgomery
Day 4: Josh Rock (the surprise package, spectacular 2022 followed by a solid 2023, top 24 in the rankings)
Order of Merit: Jamie Clark, Ted Evetts, Connor Scutt (ditto Mario, Jules and Radek, but didn't win his card back), Richie Burnett, Kevin Burness, Scott Waites, Nathan Rafferty (ended up with a fresh card via the Dev Tour due to Littler's run, lucky boy!), Cameron Menzies (a long time coming, but when he did finally arrive, he's been solid), John O'Shea, George Killington, Mickey Mansell (like Menzies, he's been solid if not spectacular), Nick Fullwell, Shaun Wilkinson
2023
EU Q School
Day 1: Jeffrey Sparidaans
Day 2: Corey Cadby
Day 3: Jeffrey de Zwaan (disappointing 2023, needs something big but not totally beyond the realms of possibility to keep his card)
Day 4: Robbie Knops
Order of Merit: Maik Kuivenhoven (failed to make the Worlds, but given himself a chance to keep his card), Richard Veenstra (the second best of last year's crop behind van Veen), Niels Zonneveld (with the amount of boing boing-ing this guy does, he might as well play for West Brom! On track to actually keep his card this time though), Pascal Rupprecht, Ronny Huybrechts, Karel Sedláček, Jacques Labre, Daniel Klose (OK first year, has given himself a hope of keeping his card), Gian van Veen (the pick of last year's Q-School bunch, looking at the top 32 by the end of his first two years), Owen Roelofs
UK Q School
Day 1: Arron Monk
Day 2: Graham Usher
Day 3: Josh Payne
Day 4: Adam Smith-Neale
Order of Merit: Dylan Slevin (made the Worlds, just about made the Players, which is good for a young lad in his first year on tour, but first round losses in both mean he'll need to improve to keep his card), Lee Evans (decent first year, on track to keep his card), Stephen Burton (like Klose and Kuivenhoven, no Worlds, but a solid enough year where he has a chance to keep his card with a decent 2024), Nick Kenny, Keegan Brown (good start to 2023, very poor end, scraped into the Worlds, but is currently not on track to keep his card), Adam Warner, Graham Hall, Callum Goffin, Christian Perez
2024
EU Q School
Day 1: Martijn Dragt
Day 2: Jelle Klaasen
Day 3: Andy Baetens

Day 1: Steve Lennon
Day 2: Robert Grundy
Day 3: Leighton Bennett
Day 4: Dom Taylor
Order Of Merit: Matthew Dennant, William Borland, Joshua Richardson, James Hurrell, George Killington, Danny Lauby, Rhys Griffin, Brett Claydon, Darren Beveridge, Adam Hunt
2018: UK 6/23 (Cadby finished in the top 64 but resigned his card, meaning Stevenson got a reprieve), EU 3/10
2019: UK 4/19, EU 4/11 (would have been 3 if not for Reyes and Kyle Anderson resigning their cards)
2020: UK 5/20, EU 4/11
2021: UK 5/17, EU 4/12
2022: UK 3/17, EU 3/15
2023 (provisional, based off last year's 1 year OoM, take with a pinch of salt as there are usually players who come from nowhere to keep their cards!): UK 1/13, EU 3/14
Thought it was interesting, the perceived wisdom is that the European Q-School is easier, and in terms of averages, the overall depth is certainly shallower, but given the relative proportions of players from each Q-School who keep their cards, the allocations have definitely not been unfair to the UK Q-School. Will be interesting to see how the Class of 2023 and 2024 get on considering the allocation of tour cards is now in the European Q-School's favour

UK Q School

Day 2: Jason Heaver
Day 3: Jake Jones
Day 4: Scott Mitchell
