It's up more than 20% on last year, but almost all of that is at the weekends and Friday, where they have also added 4 more sessions to sell tickets. Monday to Thursday afternoons (so far) are down a lot, evenings up slightly. Friday afternoon looks disappointing

Thorn and The Maltese Mushroom's hopes now lie with Duff.

Duff is a world champion and deserves respect for that.sennafan24 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 8:16 am Thorn and The Maltese Mushroom's hopes now lie with Duff.

Duff has been a terrible champion for the WDF. Even Oche has kinda admitted that. He's been a flop on the Seniors Tour and an also-ran in the Modus League. He's a journeyman, who at no point in his career would have been top 16 in the PDC. He wouldn't have had a sniff of winning Lakeside in the 2000s, probably not even the 2010s.HalloweenJack wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 8:28 amDuff is a world champion and deserves respect for that.sennafan24 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 8:16 am Thorn and The Maltese Mushroom's hopes now lie with Duff.
It's better for the WDF if a Baetens or Plaisier win this edition of the tournament. At least they could go on to have a decent career in the PDC, and by decent I mean similar to how Jim Williams is currently doing. In turn, that would give the WDF and Lakeside a bit more credibility in upcoming years.

Fair enough Senna
There are some better players in the field than Duff. But he's been there and done it

The fact is he shouldn't have won it last year. Veenstra decided to throw a shitter against him in the semis. Veenstra, Baetens and perhaps Menzies were better players during the week and that should have been the final. Duff hasn't maintained his levels of that in Seniors (1 Title and a TV SemI) and Modus (1 Weekly win) in the WDF he reached the Australian Open Final, Also won the ADC Vault Series, So he's been average a bit like Michael Smith in reality for what he has available to him and what he has done. I thought the win would kick him on a level. He's never been interested in playing in the PDC and doesn't really need to. As for "Credibility" its better for WDF having a Neil Duff who will sit in the system and return to defend his title then a Baetens who could go to Q School and come short (He won't)sennafan24 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 8:38 amDuff has been a terrible champion for the WDF. If the likes of Duff continue to win, it becomes a championship for journeyman.oche balboa wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 9:10 am The fact is he shouldn't have won it last year. If the likes of Baetens win it, it becomes a championship for players on their way to the next level of the game.
If people see Baetens doing well in the PDC it will in turn reflect well on the WDF.
