Re: Should there be more set play televised events?
Nope. Leg play is the better format. Considering the Worlds and the Grand Prix are 2 of the biggest events as well it's fine. They are unique because of the set play format, if you add more events you dilute that.
The truth, however ugly in itself, is always curious and beautiful to seekers after it.

1 or 2 more TV events with leg play wouldn't hurt.

I voted no, only because I can't think where they could fit another set play tournament into the calendar. The euros, Slam,PC finals,UK open and matchplay should deffo stay as leg play

Yes
The Masters should be the old World Masters format. Set play, best of 3 legs.
Ranked and 4 days long. Same schedule as the European Championships.

Different opinions are what makes the forum so great. Poll seems to be tied so far. Good discussion.

Not a bad idea, only thing that worries me is another ranking event will just create an even bigger gap between the big boys and the restDeepFriedRat wrote: ↑Thu Oct 12, 2023 10:56 pm Yes

A different set format is an interesting idea. Not sure if it would stick.TheMalteseDart wrote: ↑Thu Oct 12, 2023 11:11 pmNot a bad idea, only thing that worries me is another ranking event will just create an even bigger gap between the big boys and the restDeepFriedRat wrote: ↑Thu Oct 12, 2023 10:56 pm Yes

That format change sounds good. The Masters is so meaningless at the moment, even moreso next year with no PL 'qualification'.TheMalteseDart wrote: ↑Thu Oct 12, 2023 11:11 pmNot a bad idea, only thing that worries me is another ranking event will just create an even bigger gap between the big boys and the restDeepFriedRat wrote: ↑Thu Oct 12, 2023 10:56 pm Yes

If it's ranked I don't see why you couldn't have all Tour Card holders play in it with multiple boards in the early rounds. Maybe seed the Top 32 from the previous year to create some different match-ups from the Worlds and reward recent form.

Yes, there should be. A variety of formats should be more common.

It would give the new card holders an early event on tv too

Re: Should there be more set play televised events?
Perhaps, although considering it would have a slightly different qualifying criteria to the ones used for the current TV events (there isn't one yet based on the one-year main OoM), I don't think it would create a bigger gap (and even then, the Matchplay and the Grand Prix also have the one year ProTour rankings baked in)TheMalteseDart wrote: ↑Thu Oct 12, 2023 11:11 pmNot a bad idea, only thing that worries me is another ranking event will just create an even bigger gap between the big boys and the restDeepFriedRat wrote: ↑Thu Oct 12, 2023 10:56 pm Yes

Re: Should there be more set play televised events?
Sky's events are already a clownfest of different formats.
Expecting a normal TV channel to dabble in setplay is probably wishful thinking.
Best of 5 sets is anything from 9-25 legs. ITV has a schedule and general viewers to worry about, unlike Sky.

I’d rather watch re-runs of The Sweeney on ITV4 anyway.
