I do love darts. Why else would I watch and follow a lot of events like PDC, WDF, Modus etc.daveboygreen wrote: ↑Sat May 13, 2023 10:27 pm Thorn....
Why do you spend so much time on a darts forum pretending you love darts when really all you love is tasting your own spunk?
About the second part of your question, I don't love tasting my own spunk. I've done it a few times out of interest but it wasn't anything memorable.

In the few years I watched BDO I enjoyed some of it. I have a level of nostalgic interest in a lot of players who played BDO around 2015-2020.
I think it was always doomed due to being poorly run. I hope WDF can fill the gap BDO has left because for me it's important to have an amateur world championship.

A question related to Emu's: How can we know when you are being serious? Do you come with a handbook?

When I posted it yes, didn't think much of it as stuff like this is said on here every day. Then as a few people said it was too far in hindsight I agree with them. There was no need for it.

It really isn't. If the WDF World Championship hadn't happened last year nothing would have changed. The WDF is useful as an organisation that runs smaller events to give prospects and journeymen competitive playing time. Nothing more, nothing less. The Thorn wrote: ↑Sat May 13, 2023 10:33 pmIn the few years I watched BDO I enjoyed some of it. The BDO's issue in hindsight was that they didn't downscale when the time was right. They lost money running pointless events like the World Trophy in a futile attempt to stop the limited talent they had left from jumping to the PDC. By that point the tide was never going to turn back in their favour. They had already lost the battle for the professional game to the PDC. Also, contrary to what Des and probably yourself believed, the product wasn't marketable to draw enough fans to these events. Yes, they could have promoted their events better, but even with the best marketing the BDO of the "golden period" was a tough-sell.
Had they instead been sensible and stuck to running profitable smaller events for journeymen and prospects I assume they would still be around now.

As do I for the most part.
But I am not going to pretend it's massively important for the game at this point in time.

These were his thoughts in 2019:
The Thorn wrote: ↑Thu Mar 01, 2018 8:17 am The BDO is struggling to even get coverage for a few TV tournaments. Imagine a PL when they have to get TV rights for 10+ nights.
Of course no one would fucking watch it, apart from a few nutjobs like you. Only hardcore fans watch BDO these days, and they generally don't really like the PDC Premier League compared to other TV tournaments. Imagine the same with BDO players, an awful standard, would be totally pointless.
Obviously every half decent player is gone now (Bunting, Norris, Wilson, Menzies, Hughes, Noppy only in the last 3-4 years)
The ones who remain are mostly uninspiring and not great to watch, even if you don't consider standard they play at (Durrant, McGeeney, Mitchell, Williams etc)
TL;DR They couldn't do it when the organisation was in much better health 10 years ago. Fuck all chance now.

Fair to say my opinion changed a bit. Even if what you posted above is mostly factual. I never denied the facts but my subjective opinion has mellowed on the amateur side of the gamesennafan24 wrote: ↑Sat May 13, 2023 11:19 pmThese were his thoughts in 2019:
