What statistics would they be?

I have no interest in snooker, but surely more variables involved in a 147.

This is one stat he's used

I don't really like this stat, because I feel like the snooker world championships wouldn't have a bad player in it, where as the darts world championships has quite a lot of weak players. It's been a much bigger field for years and therefore many legs played between jobbers who are highly unlikely to hit a 9 especially under the pressure of it being a Worlds

More shots involved in a 147. Only 9 Darts required for a 9 darter. Thus, surely a 147 is tougher.

I mean, think of how many players who have hit a 9 who will get no where near winning a trophy. Pub league i used to play in, a boy had hit one in the past.

Do you get many amateur snooker players or lesser names on the tour hitting 147s?

It's not difficult. 9 darters are 2 a penny. 147's not.
I've had a hole in 1 twice in my life so they are piece of piss.

A snooker club I used to frequent in Belgium had 2 players that had a 147 (1995/1996), One of them was the club owner called Xavier and I was in the club when he done it, Another club I played poker in had a board next to the bar with the clubs highest breaks and there were 3 x 147's on that spanning over 18 years (first if I remember was in 1991 and the 3rd was 2009) None were achieved by professional players.

Another dynamic to think about is the number of people that play darts and the number of people that play snooker, I would say there are a hell of a lot more people who play darts than snooker.

Even a former world professional darts champion thinks that 147s are harder.

Best of 11 darts match, there are 12-22 attempts at a 9 darter.
Best of 11 snooker match, there are 6-11 attempts at a 147.

Plug these numbers into your calculators, gang.

Far easier to do so on today's boards with the non existent wire, trebles 3 times the size, better lighting, more tournaments, no smoke in the way of the board, darts with extremely thin barrels...

The trebles are bigger because the wire is smaller, better lighting and no smoke don't make any difference and the size of the dart doesn't matter either
