The group stage guarantees 2 games for everyone. They used to have it back in the day too.

There'll be some massacres results wise but long term this is good, I wonder if even further into the future they open up more qualifiers for different regions. The likes of Malaysia in Asia and Greece in Europe will feel they've got the ability to be in the top 40 countries at darts

Four first to 8 games in each session doesnt seem value for the fans.Rogg wrote:Tis bo7 for the groups. https://www.pdc.tv/news/2023/03/09/worl ... -announcedThe Ginge Reaper wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2023 5:24 pm 12 games each session on the Thursday night, Friday afternoon and Friday night then.

Yeah some of those best of 15 pairs games will be monstrous and it's why I, and maybe only I, approved of the mini singles games format. Twill take a while but as you say the idea is that the game grows into it.TheMalteseDart wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2023 5:24 pm There'll be some massacres results wise but long term this is good, I wonder if even further into the future they open up more qualifiers for different regions. Re: 2023 PDC World Cup of Darts
A question though - how do they decide which group winners go on to play the mega 4?
Surely its got to be a random draw with those four teams one to a quarter?

Found this mildly interesting for someone who hasn't followed darts as long as most here. I didn't realise France had appeared once before, back in 2014, with Jaques Labre.
The only other countries with 1 appearance only being Slovakia and Slovenia
