More money to the player who finished 3rd.

Thoughts?

Crap though they are, I think a mini 3rd place play-off would be better than absolutely nothing to fill the gap. Gawlas and Dimitri would have put on a fun show last night surely. The prospect of extra money should sweeten the deal for the more grumpy players who think the whole world is against them.
I wouldn't say that too loudly around these parts!
I wouldn't have a 3rd place play-off, it's been done at the Worlds and Barney shat on it publicly, but it's always cool when there's a youth final or qualifier like what they had at the Grand Prix

Didn’t they do one for the World’s?
I remember Webby came third in one of them.

But for the fans, I suppose it’d be much like the 3rd place play off of the football World Cup.
Webby v Barney at Ally Pally yes. Barney just sulked all the way through it.
Naturally.
Miserable cunt.

Third place play offs suck, including in football World Cups.

Just Fontaine recently died, he who scored a record 13 goals in the 1958 World Cup for France. The only thing is, 4 of those goals were in the third place play off against West Germany (i.e. when both sides were out). Therefore, the real World Cup highest tally in my opinion, remains Sandor Kocsis getting 11 goals for Hungary in 1954, done in live matches all the way (and no dead match).

3rd place matches are not needed for darts. Dimi vs Gawlas would have been a borefest where either wouldn't have been bothered. 2023 Worlds of Dimi vs Clemens would have been the same, if it was for a PL place then that would have been an incentive

The 3rd place game at the Worlds (the time Webby won it) was also the day after (or two days, cant remember) the semi finals, so the losers will have had time to process the loss. Holding a 3rd place game 5 minutes after one of the players has lost a semi final? No thanks.
Big changes on the way ! We've heard it before but it's different this time !!!! , I believe Bdo gonna grow x

Barney had more than enough time to process the loss, and correctly identified that the 3rd place game was a pile of wank regardless. As I say, I like the idea of youth/regional qualifier finals being played before big finals, at the moment there is the World Youth final before the Players, the JDC final at one of the sessions of the Worlds, the JDC Super Six final at the Masters, and they used to have the Irish qualifier final before the Grand Prix final, a shame that went as if a final is over in a flash the punters leave a bit short-changed now

When is the Women's Matchplay final? Is that before the main final, or is it a standalone event so to speak?

Sunday afternoon before the final in the evening.

SAFC told me he’s going to cheer on Fallon. 👍🏻

The entire womens Matchplay event is on the Sunday afternoon on Sky Sports, they arent going to play QF and SF games there and then tell them to wait 9 months to play the final at a different TV venue on a different channel.

Hence why I suggested doing the same for Grand Prix Slam and Matchplay. Final can be over in an hour if one sided

Where did Sky put the women's world championship final that one time? I've feeling it was PL play-offs night but can't honestly say I remember it.

Pretty sure it was at the Winter Gardens, if you are on about the time Stacey Bromberg won it? Was played after both mens semi finals.

The Bromberg one yes. That's interesting. It must have started long into the night in that case. Zero memory whatsoever of that, not sure I saw it.
