1979 World Championship Final
John Lowe steps up to the oche as destiny awaits as his first world championship title is upon him. But what's this? A late opponent change in the final as Rees pulls out and they decide the only way to prove John Lowe is the best is to defeat another Lowe. Up steps Jason
4-4 in sets both averaging 110, John Lowe misses a match dart at tops, Jason needs a 167 to win. 60, 57, BULLSEYEEEEEEEEEEEE.
JASON LOWE WINS THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS DEFEATING JOHN AND CHANGES HISTORY

Re: The Official TDF Time Machine
or Olly Croft goes for the gamble and puts lakeside on Sky. The WDC boys will have to rely on regional telly highlights, BBC will still screen highlights on Sky. in 1994 it all falls apart for the rebels & Croft bans them for 2 years from all events. They still try and continue to host their own events, But the Darting Public largely aren't interested (They are money grabbers). 1996 comes and Taylor, Bristow, Lowe are back in the BDO System who have created another event via Sky, Taylor rises to win the BDO Worlds in 1997 and makes an apology to the lakeside crowd for the mess they put darts in with the split but is largly cheered as too Bristow when he lost in the 1st round to Chris Mason. Barry Hearn is still waiting in the wings however... The BDO does ok but doesn't really improve its growth in 2001, Hearn decides to invent his own Matchroom Darts Corporation with the best players involved within the system Taylor, Beaton, Mason, Deller, Burnett and 11 others sign up. Sky contract is up for grabs and Hearn wins it with his new brand to the shock of Olly Croft who asks BBC to live screen his 4 events (Worlds, World Masters, lakeside Masters, Zuiderduin Masters) BBC only screen 2 live for just 10 days of coverage. The first MDC event is a success at the circus tavern. Won by Rod Harrington beating Phil Taylor. Hearn announces more events & opens the doors for more players to join. Croft and Hearn appear on a special ITV program and have an hour debate in 2003, it was full of beefy subjects but astonishingly both agree to form a pact where there players can play in each other events but stick to qualifying for their worlds. In 2004 the MDC becomes the PDC, Croft remains in power till 2019. Hearn steps down in 2020. Porter takes over and rips up the contract agreement and there will never be a Grand Slam of Darts featuring BDO players and he will not allow PDC players to play in the Crosscode Lakeside Masters. 2023 there are 10 events on TV but only 2 of which are BDO who are losing money and their contracts with 7 companies. Chairman Martin Adams is still Bullish about the BDO future but with the Modus Super Series staring up... its likely he will lose more players as they have a special deal with the PDC>

There is a pic around here somewhere of Fatz introducing players at the BDO Masters (I think) with the Sky Sports logo in the top corner. An unsettling glimpse at what could have happened.
