Re: 2023 Masters
Yes that was a great game. Dobey has been knocking on that door for a while he's just never taken that next step. We never knew the next step would have been this title, but fair play to the lad.Malanax wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 11:48 pmRemember that brilliant worlds match they had was billed as a bit of a master n protégé type thing, dobey missed the big number to give himself a dart to level it/extend it right at the end was a great matchJeffLamp wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 11:41 pmAh that might explain it, thanks. The Thorn wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 11:37 pmGando Dobey and some others had the same managers for a whileJeffLamp wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 11:35 pm I remember an interview with Gary Anderson ( I'm guessing about 5 or 6 years ago ) where he said he'd been practicing with Chris Dobey and he thought he was one of the best young players outside the top group and thought it was only a matter of time before he broke through.
It's clearly taken a while but it just sprang to mind.
I was trying to figure out what their link would be , but I knew I definitely remember Anderson saying that.

Dobey is one of the top players that you can visually see nerves on their face in big moments… he had enough breathing room to get over the line. Same happened with Smith in the grand slam, he’s another one who may not necessarily be a one hit wonder now he’s got over the line

Re: 2023 Masters
No. It wasn't a major back then anyway. I love Cullen and Clayton and Dobey but nevertheless if they all won it, this isn't a major

Sorry about that mate. My emotions were running high after this great final. Remember I watched and praised the Hungarian girl's game earlier at Dutch Open!

Again though, Cross playing shite in a final of a weekend event where you play 3 times in one day. Happens way too often and probably why he’s never won a euro tour event

I mean it's still a tough thing to do physically. Perhaps people who have been pros for longer are more used to itTheMalteseDart wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 11:59 pmCould be, can’t see any other excuse for fatigueThe Thorn wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 11:58 pmNever thought about that.
