You should go and have a pint with him, You have a lot in common....

Both masters of the 40 odd average :D
Haha. That 43 average against 8 ball was torture. I nearly conceded the match after 3 darts thrown. Hand injury returned with a vengeance. Rubbed oil into it after that match. Doctor confirmed arthritis. Waiting appointment with physio. Prescribed voltarol emulgel - Apply every 6hrs. Also using the balm oil and anadin extra. In one of the matches I was called a "cheating cunt" as I'd stop mid throw and put my hand under my arm to generate heat to ease the pain. The fucker thought it was gamesmanship and was unaware of my woes. I'll tell him next time, maybe.
Friday 19th May 2023 - Finally free of the bull shitting no mark of a dart player.

You should try one of those hand warmers....

Amazon sell them for £10-£12 for the USB rechargeable ones.

WSDT Series 2:
Playing first match against Colin McGarry was always a tough ask. 9 darts thrown I switched to 19's for the remainder of the match which eased the pressure on the hand. After a quick start he gave me chances to take the opening leg. Several 95 scores but no 133's. Came close to breaking in leg 3 but 2 big visits from Colin sealed the win. Still nowhere near to my level of old but will persevere for now.

The current seniors world champion Robert Thornton awaited the winner. Marked a match on the stage and got £10. My match of the day - Alan Norris v Mike Huntley. It had everything, Alan with his big roars and Mike taking the deciding leg with 161 c/o to seal a great win. We left as the semis were starting. Get to do it all again tomorrow with an earlier start. Doors 8am, register by 11am. Start 12 noon. Lights out!

We're all jobbers, just some jobbers are more superior than others. One thing of note, the last 8 had one thing in common...please refer to the NTNOCN skit.

Out of my depth, living on last memories, lacking the drive and motivation to succeed, give it up already, my time is up. All of these may be true but the biggest disappointment is my lack of drive...

68.20 average from yesterday is sh!t. 2nd throw of match 5 scored 1,1,3, dog sh!t 💩
The one plus from looking at the match stats breakdown was the 3rd leg with 4 scores of 95 on 19's. This is my clutching at straws stat that offers a glimpse of turning things round. Best of 9 legs format today. That's 5 legs minimum of not being a total twat. Suppose I best get up and get ready. Registration closes in under an hour and not one dart thrown. #PreparationZero

Delusion reigns  🎯

Horendous journey in, 2 8 miles from hotel. Arrived bang on 11am deadline!

I've drawn John Nelson 1st match. Don't recognise the name and haven't looked him up. Could I win a leg or even get darts at a double? Had a throw and chat on the stage board for 10-15 mins. As ready as will be with meds and oils kicking in. Back is burning and hand feeling good. AND Keith Carter joined us on the stage. Had a chat with him too. Nice bloke 👍

John Nelson played at the UK Open in 2012. Challenge Tour 2015. Not much other info on him

Enjoyed yesterday. John Nelson was a bit good in parts. Think he reached the semi final? Was nice to finally get a leg against my name.

Today's the day. I never ever look to see who I'm playing, let alone the draw route but for some reason today I have. Playing a jobber with similar stats to mine, and the seed is there to be taken down... Feeling good today, Guinness is flowing and my old side kick Baileys has accompanied me today. Fuck drinking water... let's see what happens. I'm in the group of 2nd matches and expect my first 9 average to be nearer 90 than 60. Will I get a leg or more on the board? Time will tell... Time for a drink. Cheers!

Rancid...hit and miss...some good...some bad...hand flare ups annoyed me, but made little difference scoring wise...always felt I'd hit a treble per throw...had it won...had it lost...rode my luck... let's see what happens now I've won a match. I imagine the averages were shit. After the match I spoke to Rebecca, the Medic, a great darts player herself, about my hand. She checked it, gave it a good rub and suggested more alcohol. Cant argue with our nurses and that prognosis until I see the physio. Only a drop left of the baileys bottle so another Guinness and black is calling me. Old drinking habits and all that... Cheers!!!
