I’ve also gone with Smith. It’s harsh on mvg who’s won 3 and got to a world final, but we just expect so much of him

Belly won 2 big titles himself, and also picked up a healthy amount of floor titles too, as well as 2 major final defeats albeit 1 he completely flopped in. Think in the circumstances of being 0/8 in finals to pick off 2 including the big one wins it for me

Belly technically won the worlds in 2023.

Therefore the best player in 2022 was MVG imo.
