Re: Rate each of the major title wins this year
The Masters- Joe Cullen
Great performances early in the tournament and did well to get over the line, although the final was full of choking and Chizzy blew his big chance to get back in it. He's since shown more than his Jobber Joe moniker so it's not a bad start to the tv wins for Cullen.
7/10
- UK Open- Danny Noppert
He did well to win it but Noppert's standard was poor. Heta-O'Connor-Bellyboy at his most choker was a shit route to the win and the tournament was decimated by a catalogue of upsets. Bialecki in the quarters testament to this. But he had to get over the line. Having balls vs the crowd in the final is worth 3 points alone, even if his average was appalling.
6/10, being generous because I like Noppert
- Premier League- MVG
Slightly bitter because Clayton really should've won this based on the whole tournament form but he was pathetic vs Cullen so no complaints. MVG deserved the win next as he was imperious in several games. If Cullen would've won the event after getting two byes to guarantee 4th over Wright, it would've been a complete farce.
8/10
- World Matchplay- MVG
I can barely remember this one but I do recall Lice was in thundercunt form throughout. Could've won the final but MVG went beastmode at the death to save his ass. Not quite as good as his PL win but still decent.
7/10
- World Series Finals- Lice
Very forgettable tournament. Some bright spots were Joyce raping Twit Barbara (which made me stiff as all hell) and Clayton vs Noppert and MVG but he ran out vs Dirk. Speaking of Dirk, he should've won the event. This was the one where there was serious crowd trouble with the Dutch police visiting the venue. Lice scraped home after a rightly easy run to victory.
5/10
- World Grand Prix- MVG
Easily the shittest of MVG's majors this year. Played an incredibly poor Wright in the semis and Asp took ages to get going in the final. The crowd this event was also terrible, needs moving from Leicester immediately.
6/10
- European Championship- Smudger
Majestic. Fuck Stuart Pyke, Smudger was class. After coming back vs Jo's gimp in the QF, he never looked back. Absolutely bodied Bellyboy in the final in a far better game than the UK Open final. Great scoring and finishing, plus a tricky old run too vs Cullen, Barbara, Wright, an MVG slaying Dobey and Bellyboy thrown in there. Fantastic.
9/10
- Grand Slam of Darts- Bellyboy
He finally did it. Okay Asp basically handed it to him and Barney blew it massively in the semis but he showed uncharacteristic bollocks vs Cullen in the QF, which saved his ass big time. Not a bad way to exorcise the demons, even if last year's Ally Pally run would've been better.
8/10
- Players Championship FInals- MVG
A truly mighty performance in the final. An orgasmic nine darter and savage finishing to repel an irritatingly clingy Cross. Kudos here because a year or two ago, MVG would've folded. He also did well to clean this event up because Vile Puke was lurking and so many big names blew it on the monster Friday. Best standard for MVG all year, even if his PL and Matchplay wins were of a longer timeframe.
8.5/10

Re: Rate each of the major title wins this year
Are you both judging the title wins based on the final or the whole tournament? As Noppert’s 6 feels harsh based on his averages in the other rounds
Edit: only 89 in the semi too, so maybe fair. He was excellent in the other games though

Re: Rate each of the major title wins this year
MVG's Matchplay is easily the most impressive major title win of the year imo.
Granted, his game with Lewis in the first round sucked and Cullen didn't turn up in their second round game. However, he was pushed very hard over a long format by Dimitri, Asp and Price respectively in the remaining three rounds, yet managed to outlast all three of them
8 out of 10.

And a Sedlacek Beer Mat?
Could be a novelty item when he wins a major.
