Yep that bastard struck my pc last night.
Managed to get an operating system working, got one ofmy brothers to try fix the corrupted bios by stripping the pc down and starting from scratch with other parts assembled.
Installed windows xp and after about 8 hours today of reinstalling as much as I can, I am now inundated with updates, my norton wont work even telling me it has expired, only bought it 3 months ago.
Gonna have to reinstall my thousands of fonts, patterns and brushes in photoshop,along with installing everything from java, flash, gom player and every single thing you can imagine....nightmare.
But the biggest annoyance is I lost my bookmarks.
Hundreds of links to all sorts of weird and wonderful stuff...........gone
Gonna back up most of what i can salavge as I have decided its time for a new pc to sort this for once and for all., something with a top notch graphics card, quad processor and a shitload of ram

many times when i click a link here, it comes up at the bottom resolving proxy, then i get a screen saying i am not connected to the internet.

Sounds like your hard drive has gone Gaz but it can be recovered. Costs about £100

think it stems back to my previous external hard drive that blew up.
Lost everything, over 450 gigs of movies, pics, and all sorts including wedding pics , family pics and videos and vids and pics of my dogs and deceased dogs going back tears...all unreplacable.
The hard drive i got to replace it was installed internally in the tower alongside another which went kaput and now down to the single one.
My grapics cards is nearly burnt out and think thats what is causing the hardrives to malfunction and in one case and physically bang with sparks.
Being looking at a nice one on komplett that would suit me in relation to price and when i can actually get it.Obviously the better i want the longer the wait but i would go mad...cancel that...even madder without a pc.
If I can get this to work for another 4 weeks tops I will be happy as I will get a new one then
