Unicorn Products

Post by shane180 » Thu Apr 05, 2012 11:57 pm

Went out and bought an eclipse pro today came home and the board looks fucked. Bottom wire of the treble 20 is split and the colouring has run on nearly every treble. Anyone else had any problems with any other products? also finding the flights arent lasting too long either.. been through about 80 sets in last couple months and although i play a lot i would expect a set to last more then an hour or am i being too optimistic

Take the board straight back mate, its faulty so won't be a problem getting your money back. I've been looking on a few sites relating to dartboards and most feedback to do with the eclipse pro is positive only it tends to wear prematurely.

As for the flights, I found myself wizzing through sets recently probably due to buying job lots. Dimplex flights last a session at best, using Marathon? at the moment and they seem really durable.

I bought it on spur of moment when i was in ipswich which is like 45 mins away from me so cant be fucked going back to the shop.. plus ive used it too now. Just pissed myself when i saw on the box.. tournament standard.. only fit for the reject pile.. might get a few weeks out of it then probably look at the target board. and i will have to have a look at them flights but at the moment it looks like target will be the way forward

Ouch, get most of my darts kit online.

Mostly due to the fact I'm lazy.

I'm getting ready to bite the bullet and order this case sight unseen

it's a unicorn contender hard case.
I want to just shove my darts inside it without taking them apart, cuz I never do.
without pressing down on the flights.
anybody have one or have any thoughts you'd like to share?

Unicorn need to get there act together. I refuse now to buy anything they have made. I agree with Shane, the boards i have bought in the past 12 months are a joke, throw on them for an hour and they are useless. getting 1 practice session out of a treble.

Shane, heres what iv found.

Best boards on the market - Bulls advantage board
http://www.a180.co.uk/shop/product.php?xProd=1170
Flights - Va180 designed standard. Can get 100 sets for £31. (£32.50 including postage within the uk)
http://www.a180.co.uk/shop/product.php?xProd=3584
Stems - The 2 tone plastic stem seem to last longest 25 sets for a tenner
http://www.a180.co.uk/shop/product.php?xProd=1617
Rings - I would suggest dont use the normal standard ring, between losing them from falling on de floor or them being bent out of action from another dart banging into em

Heres another tip, make the flights and rings/stems go that bit further.

Stick a small piece of blue tac on the top of the stem before putting on the flight. Push the flight thru the blue tac and into the stem. Will stop that annoying fuckin habbit of the flight coming out. Plus will stop the right from going AWOL

Gotta agree with you on the plastic 2tone stems. They go on forever. I use the same flights as ronnie Baxter (grey black and white union jacks) and they are as solid as I've ever used, very rarely split or tear
I wished for this, I bitched at that
I've left behind this little fact

Wouldn't give Unicorn house room. I've never had a Unicorn board, but watching the premier league games after 2 or 3 legs, the boards look similar to a burst couch, the gripper stems are utter shite, flights coming off every time you group your darts, and most of their darts are over priced rubbish, but this is only my opinion of course. For an alternative board, I would highly recommend the Target Pro Tour, excellent value for money.

I've had plenty of Winmau boards, and while I like them, they do harden up quickly, but I went for the TPT about 4 months ago, and it is sweeet. Nice and soft and hardly looks played on even though I'm on it a minimum of 2hrs every night..great board.
