I don't think there's any particular correlation between on-stage behaviour after losing a final and what the player will go on to achieve in the game. Is there? It's just a mishmash of stuff happening in the moment, wherever it happens to takes them. It's not a useful measuring stick in that way.

What I dislike about the loser grinning after getting humped in a final is that it can cheapen the occasion. I think I require visual evidence of absolute breakdown to justify the time I spent watching it but then I'm not very nice.

I think it’s a safe bet to say the you wouldn’t see Bullyboy grinning after a major final defeat.

Smith must be the absolute opposite of Chizzy in that way. What that's worth, I don't know.

And the rest. This was the first of his major finals where he was a clear favourite to win.

In 3 of his finals he has lost 11-10
Wade 2018 World Series. He missed 5 match darts.
Wright 2020 Masters. He missed 3 match darts
Noppert 2022 U.K open. He missed 1 match dart.
Yesterday it was his scoring that went to pot, what must rankle him though is the fact Noppert averaged around 84 yet still beat him.
In a last leg decider in a major final, I would back just about anybody to beat him.

Quite affected by the 2022 darkness of Cullen and Noppert getting the job done in telly finals against Chizzy and Smith. Woo(f).

So he's missed championship darts in three finals and is yet to win one (this side of Shanghai). You have to go a long to find a collection quite like that. I can't think of anything.

It will make his first win all the more sweeter

You would think with his natural ability he should win a few majors but getting that first one is proving very difficult for him.

It could be that if/when he gets the first one, he may go on to win many more...
The mental block of getting his first is proving to be harder than most people ( including himself) thought..

People react in different ways. I don't think it's much use to judge reactions after lost finals either way

To be fair to Noppert he can play pretty well. I remember his game vs peak Ando at the grand sla.m years back as an example. I think he has a chance of picking up another TV title or 2. World GP I would say he has a good chance and suits his game.

That was a top game at the 2016 Slam. He looked like he belonged there. Impressive moments often end up nowhere but Norbit has managed to stick.

Surely by several measures he will end up outshining Durrant in the PDC which is... funny. Those golden days of Duzzamania...

Was always going to happen. Durrant is like 20 years older. Then again I think if you look back on the 2017 BDO world final, and to think, both of them have went on to win PDC majors. It's quite pleasing. The conveyor belt is working in mysterious ways.
