My Day at rileys.

Post by shane180 » Sat Mar 31, 2012 3:29 pm

So yesterday i decided to pop up to my local rileys for a few games and a little practise. Played a few of the younger lads who throw some pretty good darts. Halfway through the afternoon newly appointed England international Jamie Robinson come in for a few hours practise, had a few games with him and some of his pals and needless to say spent most of the afternoon on the chalkboard.. Won 1 leg and was happy with that! one of the legs i played opened with 85, 45, then hit a 180 to not even leave a finish and watched him checkout which really hurt!

Come to about 8.30 and they were organising a Ko tournament which had about 16 players enter. After leaving my bank card at home a quick trip back to mine to grab it and get some more cash. I arrived back to them making the draw and low and behold i had drawn jamie in the first round great!! after a bit of banter we got away with the first leg double in 501 best of 3.. first leg i got off straight away as did jamie and stayed with him throughout the leg getting to a 2 dart finish but not getting a go jamie took out 80 ot something i think. 2nd leg i couldnt hit a double for the life of me to get going and eventually i think i was on high 300's when he checked out. 3rd leg was exactly the same as the second just couldnt hit a double after spraying them all over the board. when i did get away he was on 200ish and i ended up getting down to 96 after he missed a few doubles but didnt get a shot. After ive been playing of late this really put things into perspective of how far i have to go with my game but was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.. He went on to win it.

Had a great chat with him about all things darts and mentioned the site he is going to sign up and have a look around and hopefully write of his darting adventures.. were both going to the great wakering open next friday and his first england international is in 2 weeks. he currently sits 36 in the bdo rankings after picking up points in the last few weeks and if he carries on will be at lakeside this year.

Sorry its so long and if i bored you but not bad for a first attempt!
