Re: GSOD 2021
Randall's ideal darts tournament:
Sessions held between 6pm and 9pm.
Straight knockout.
Only Taylor, Dimi, John Lowe, Hendo, Price, and Kong allowed to enter.
No pundits.

Re: GSOD 2021
The GS is interesting because of the fact it is different to all the other events....Randall wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 5:23 pmNext year no doubt the wdf muck will get invites again as well
What you are proposing is another straight knockout that we already have enough of...

The truth, however ugly in itself, is always curious and beautiful to seekers after it.

Re: GSOD 2021

It would be fair to cut the group stage if they brought the Champions League back in my opinionThe Ginge Reaper wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 5:58 pmand yet you want them to ditch the group stage, the only group stage event they have

Re: GSOD 2021
I don't love group stages as such but there are hardly loads of ways of formatting tournaments, are there? You could google up Triple Elimination Tournament Brackets... not before bedtime though.
All the Sky Sports events are highly distinctive.
Premier League - World Cup - World Matchplay - World Grand Prix - Grand Slam of Darts - World Championship
League, groups, pairs, legplay, setplay, double-in... No-one can accuse Sky of being samey. If anything you could argue it's weirdly gimmicky.

I just don't like all the irrelevant games it throws up
Add in the floor qualifiers I just find the early part of the event tedious.

Well, you know. The groups can provide fun too. Group stages have been around forever and you're not powerful enough to prevent them so it's up to you what you do with it. The GSoD format seems to be a continuation of the old International Darts League thingy. Hearn withdrew the troops etc.
