Re: GSOD 2021
TV boards now serve there purpose as sky and pdc want high averages and checkouts but it makes a mockery of darts history

Re: GSOD 2021
Some people used to laugh around 2015 time when I suggested that the new HD boards brought in after the 2014 World Championship were helping Michael van Gerwen, and had harmed Phil Taylor along with his switch from Unicorn darts to Target darts. Go back in darts history though, and the 1970s boards were virtually impossible to stack the darts because of the thick wires, and it was only slightly better for much of the 1980s. Most of the 1990s boards still had staples in them. Up to the 2014 World Championship, it was SD boards. The HD boards since 2014 have changed the game further, and now an Ultra HD board making the targets stand out even further still.

‘Convenient’
He was conveniently not around last year when his BDO heroes were knocked out of the group stage.

HJ is too good for this forum. He doesn't want to mix with the common rabble.

Why did it specifically hurt Taylor and benefit MVG?PT13 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 5:32 pm Some people used to laugh around 2015 time when I suggested that the new HD boards brought in after the 2014 World Championship were helping Michael van Gerwen, and had harmed Phil Taylor along with his switch from Unicorn darts to Target darts. Re: GSOD 2021
More due to it narrowing the gap at the top of the game when the targets on the board become easier to hit. HD boards weren't the only factor, as there was Taylor's change in darts manufacturer. Van Gerwen did dominate in late 2012 and the first half of 2013 aside from the 2013 World Championship final, so he did prove he could do it on the SD boards, but he did then go 6 months in the second half of 2013 without winning a tournament until the Players Championship Finals.sennafan24 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 5:41 pmWhy did it specifically hurt Taylor and benefit MVG?PT13 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 5:32 pm Some people used to laugh around 2015 time when I suggested that the new HD boards brought in after the 2014 World Championship were helping Michael van Gerwen, and had harmed Phil Taylor along with his switch from Unicorn darts to Target darts. Bristows 97 averages in the mid 80s finals are comparable with anything they hit on comedy boards of todayPT13 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 5:32 pmSome people used to laugh around 2015 time when I suggested that the new HD boards brought in after the 2014 World Championship were helping Michael van Gerwen, and had harmed Phil Taylor along with his switch from Unicorn darts to Target darts.
