Changes you'd make to the PDC

A thread like this probanly exists somewhere else but fuck it I'm too lazy to look.

The Olympics thread got me thinking, Covid-aside there haven't been any significant format amendments for majors since the Grand Slam became ranked.

Although a lot of them are going great as always, Matchplay, Grand Prix, Worlds, there are a few changes I think could freshen up the Calendar a bit if the PDC wanted to shake things up....

1. Make the World Cup every two years in odd numbered years.

2. Starting 2022, a new tv event (played every two years in the World Cup spot) with one of the two following formats...

2A. A new pairs event where ranks 1-32 (captains) are drawn with a team mate (shite) with one of the next best 32 on the ProTour OOM.

-First Round- First to 6 legs. Shite vs Shite play first to 3 then captains take over the match until one gets to 6. The captains rely on their teammate to get the best head start.

-Last 32 and Last 16- First to 8 legs (4 switch) and first to 10 (5 switch).

-Quarters, Semis and Finals are solely doubles format. First to 3, 4 and 5 sets respectively.

2B. News of the World reboot with all 128 tour card holders. Anyone who doesn't play is replaced by a CT player.

Top 32 seeded, everyone enters in Round 1. First to 2 legs.

Other changes could include...

1. Making Super Series PC blocks permanent

2. Revert the UK Open to just after the Premier League in May/June, a week long and keep it at Butlins.

3. Revamp the Masters. Top 32 ranking money (tv, floor and ETs) earners of the year before. 1 vs 32, 16 vs 17 etc. Make it ranked and keep it in January.

4. Bin the Champions League permanently and put the Masters on BBC.

5. Push the World Cup/NOTW/new pairs event to October and bin the World Series Finals.

6. Keep the World Series for the first week of July and all of August. Use the ranking table for Grand Slam spots instead, to reward the likes of Heta and Rhys Matthewson back in the day.

7. Have a fixed Grand Slam criteria and reward every PC event winner of the year. No BDO/WDF. Keep the qualifier but only 4 spots instead of 8. Keep the Ladies at 2, one UK, one ROTW.

I like the idea of a News of the World type event, but make it cross code and an open draw.
PDC and WDF can pick 64 from each code and mix it between men and women.
With it being an open draw, we could see a final between
Paula Jacklin v Ross Montgomery

A week long uk open sounds horrific, as does a dedicated pairs event.

Ranking masters would be fine, as would binning the GSoD qualifiers.

NotW would be laughable. 2 legs wouldnt even work for streaming, let alone tv.

2A is a terrible idea. 2B is great and should happen.

I think the UK Open should stay in that slot as the calendar is already lopsided.

Every event winner should be in the Slam and even ET finalists if needed. Qualifiers should be 4 maximum. WDF should get 2 spots for their world champs if it gets going.

I also don't see a reason to just scrap 2 TV events without replacing them. Maybe one of them but even then, what's the benefit?
