Re: 2021 Premier League
Ffs, I was out on Friday and Saturday, and I come back to the forum to this? Well bloody done Jonny Clayton, always been a cracking player, but did anyone predict this? Commiserations Jose, he's delighted us all season with his mix of the sublime and the ridiculous, but the final was a step too far. It's always hard to follow up after the second semi-final, especially after such a tense game, maybe he'd have had a better chance had he not made those couple of counting errors, but it's all academic now

Jose ought to invest in a private maths tutor.thegentle wrote: ↑Sun May 30, 2021 12:41 pm Ffs, I was out on Friday and Saturday, and I come back to the forum to this? Re: 2021 Premier League
IIRC, he had lost his marbles before the Warren Brown fiasco.
He just became worse after it.

Re: 2021 Premier League
97.74 tournament average this year. Absolutely ruined by Dulla's 86. So Duzza has the lowest tournament average of any PL winner... how surprising.

Do you think we'll ever see a 100 tournament average for the Premier League, including all matches and players? We were less than a point away from it in 2015, but that year's record of 99.02 still stands.

Those earlier winners also played on boards with smaller segments.Rogg wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 8:43 am 97.74 tournament average this year. Absolutely ruined by Dulla's 86. So Duzza has the lowest tournament average of any PL winner... how surprising.

So there is probably a bigger performance gap between Wade in 2009 and Duzza in 2020 than their tournament averages would indicate. Had Duzza played to the same standard in any other year of the PL, he would not have won it.
But that is darts for you, random results occasionally happen.

Possibly. A game getting more and more professional and little moving parts and where at times improving standard of opponents can elevate your own average.

Golf courses can lengthen, thicker rough etc. Tennis gets tougher when the speed of balls flying at you is ever increasing. Darts is static, just you standing there throwing at a non moving target and sometimes your average is better than you are playing if your opponent is clinical in your losing legs you are only having scoring visits. The Thorn wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 3:00 pmI don't understand any of thatSuperSwede wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 2:57 pmPossibly. I don't think the current era is as strong as some believe.

That, and I don't think the talent today is necessarily much stronger than 15 years ago.The Thorn wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 3:24 pmToyboardssennafan24 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 3:19 pm I don't think the current era is as strong as some believe.
More depth overall? Yes. But a combined PDC and BDO 32 man field in 2006 wouldn't be much weaker than the 2021 Matchplay field.
