Re: Steve Browns practise game
Have been planning out a few new ones lately. I think practice will have to be more intense for me now when i come back. less time on de board, but what time i have to be used properly.
Doubles.
I will still use the barney game
Tops, 18s,16,12,10,8,6,4,2,1
3 darts at tops, if i hit it move onto 18s, and so on, if i miss i go back to tops, thou people can adjust this and just move back 1, 2 or 3 doubles. IE say your on D10, and miss it, you can decide to go back to D12 instead if starting back at tops isnt what you want to do.
Scoring
1000 game.
10 hands of darts (30 darts) idea is to break the 1000 mark. But add up all your scores, say you score 700 with your first throw, that then is the bench mark, you shud be aiming to beat this every other time.
Finishes -
Again, im gonna go back to the old routine i had.
starting at 61, to 100.
I get 3 attempts at each finish. 3 points if i finish it first time, 2 if i finish it 2nd, 1 if i hit it the 3rd time. . 0 for not finishing it. . . try and score as many as possible.
You will be told by every old fella in the pub doubles for dough trebles for show, because they heard bobby george say it years ago on tv. Let me tell you that day has gone. You also need ot be able to score highly enough to get to a double. So working on scoring is every bit as important as finishes.
Dont get bogged down if things dont go well, and dont just ditch certain routines if you feel they arent working, most practice sessions dont go according to plan, and the only time you will see the benifit of practice is in the heat of battle. . .
Get out as much as finances allow and play against other players. Dont mind this shit of looking for someone better to play against, boloxs togetting hammered everytime, u soon lose interest. . Try and find someone at the same level, dont play 501, play other games, wether it be for 20p or 20 quid, play for something.
Some games to try are pick 5 finishes. (Eg, 55, 49, 63, 25, 7) and the player to finish them first wins. . . . you have to finish them in the order you write them on the board, or scoring. first to 10 tons, or first to 5 bulls and so on.
Warm up
Simple is best. from T10 to T20. 3 darts at each 1 for the treble, 1 for the single and one for the double, in whatever order you want. 5 mins at the bull and then you shud be away. O some players need a half hour to get warmed up, others can throw straight away when they pick there darts up. But sort out a warm up routine, and stick to it, this will stand you well when you venture out to proper comps.
Always aim at something, dont just throw aimlessly at the board.

Have been using this method since you suggested it to me a while back and is paying dividends on my finishing, although I am still struggling to hit big scores consistently.Dicie wrote:Have been planning out a few new ones lately. 1 last thing, dont aim for the T20........ Aim for a spot IN the t20
