I don’t think anyone would suggest Ariana is more famous than Macca.
Imagine if Grande and McCartney were famous to different demographics.

And imagine if Adams and Mardle were famous to the same demographic.
The point I’m making is Twitter cannot be used as a barometer of fame.
Would it really surprise you if more people knew who Mardle was in 2021?
Yes. Only darts fans will know who Mardle is. There will be people who aren’t darts fans will know who Adams is due to his longevity and the fact he has been on terrestrial tv.
Disagree, Adams been on TV once a year on a darts tournament that presumably had fairly poor viewing figures for the last couple, Mardles basically the voice of darts on sky now and any casual sports fan that sticks the darts on throughout the year will know who he is now. I'd say Mardle definitely more well known now.

Non darts fans will still remember names of players from a pub game that was on telly 3 years ago?

Behave.
It all depends how old you are. I could ask mates of mine who hate darts and I know some will have heard of Adams, I can guarantee none will know who Mardle is.

Yes. Only darts fans will know who Mardle is. There will be people who aren’t darts fans will know who Adams is due to his longevity (despite being riddled with 'cancer'), and the fact that he's a backstabbing spineless cunt.
Valid point.

It depends how old people are. I assume people who switch darts on are darts fans. You will get a few extra who tune into the PDC worlds, but if they have any passing interest in darts, they are bound to know who Adams is. There will many casuals who occasionally dip into the darts that may know Mardles voice but probably don’t know his name. Adam Smith has started doing comms on the darts and there were some on here that didn’t know who he was but knew he did boxing.
