Stray Dog

Post by Justin Credible » Thu Jan 26, 2012 7:53 pm

A pup followed my wife home today, a border collie cross, beautiful little pup I reckon about 4-5 months, thing stank and was starving and underweight.
Tried introduce him to my two but one of mine just would not take to him, cannot blame him either afterall jealousy and dominant issues were bound to rise. The other was fine with him, guess if it was a very young pup there would be no issue but being a few months i cannot trust my own dogs.

Spent the last couple hours checking around and nobody knows who owns the dog, could not leave it leave it with the mother in law as she has 3 cats already that we dumped on her.
Feed the pup, gave it some water and gave it a brushing and left him back out in to the area I live hoping he find wherever he came from but after almost an hour he was back outside my door, if the aggressive dog was not as bad I would kept him.

If I brought it to a home I fear he might end up getting put down in time as collies are the most popular breed tobe handed in to shelters due to the amount of work involved with them and their hyperactivity., ended up bringing him up to my brother who lives in an apartment, as he said he will look after it for a the day / night.

Is it not possible that your aggresive dog would come round Gaz? Keep them seperate when you're out of the house and together when you're in?

my dogs are almost 7 years old, both from the same litter and been together since birth and have free range in the house, tried seperate the aggressive dog by putting him behind the child gate i use on the stairs.
Its not so much he is aggressive but more a case of defending what he probably percieves as his place.
Am getting anew pup anyway in the next few weeks, wife wants an irish red setter., so a pup a few weeks old might be easier to introduce

Pity mate, collies may be hard work but they are lovely dogs. Good luck with the Setter, nutty as a fucking fruitcake!

They get fucking huge!

We had two great dogs, one a cross terrier and one a sheltie. Both totally different in character but for loyaltie you couldn't beat them. I remember my kids being little being little would drag the Sheltie around too much so I'd tell them to stop. The dog would then growl at me for telling the kids off!

The cross stood about a foot tall and feared nothing, had so much savvy it was unreal. My old man was the master of both but I was the only one who could let the cross off her lead when I walked her. She'd stay close and keep her eye on how far she went from me. As a house dog you couldn't get any better

Had a corgi bitch for 11 years, a border terrier/cross mongrel for 18 years, the best dog i ever had in my life at the time, both strays I found about 6 other strays 2 died as they were very ill when I found them and the vet could not save, and the others i found good homes for.
The ones I have now i spent ages trying to get pedigree border collies straight from the farm so even today they are as as wild and wired as any farm dog.Got a fair size back garden, and live only about 150 yards from where the countryside starts.

Since i dont keep dogs outdoors at night, my two sleep in the house i could not get a dog that would cause friction, hence why it would need to be a very young pup that they would accept over time

Pity about the dogs that couldn't be saved mate but fair play for doing all you could with them all.

Ours had their own chairs indoors for night time and the run of the house. Though we only had the two at different times if one was in a chair or on the settee we'd sit somewhere else, or share.

If Igo back to bed or sleep in she lets the dogs up the stairs to wake me up, i wake up with them fuckers licking my or dragging the duvet of the bed waiting for their walk.
Off now to take them for another for an hour.

My next dog willbe a toy dog, soon will be getting too old for all this walking in this shit weather

The cross used to wake me after my afternoon session to open the garage gates for the old man and have her prowl around the alleys. In the mornings before school she'd bring me her lead for a walk. Was a crafty bitch as well.

One year the olduns were away and I was the only one looking after the house. I'd been out and brought back fish n chips for me supper. When I got in I let her out into the garden to do the necessary and dished up. She started barking and as she never barked for no reason I went out to have a look. There was nothing there so I went back inside to watch the dog eating my fish.

Very clever bitch and funny as fuck

mine never go neat the cupboards fridge etc, but can open if they wanted, the open the doors and have to lock everything otherwise they will let themselves out the front.
One of them can clear the couch in a leap but the other has hip dysplacia and its getting worse,m especially in this cold weather, while one runs nonstop the other is kind of skipping due to his back legs, wife reckons he will have to be put down if it becomes worse but the vet reckons just basic exercise and dont push him.Aint given him any medication yet as he is not in pain but more stiff than anything. As soon as he gets in from rolling in the soaking grass he lies on his back legs in the air waiting to be towel dried, as he knows I will tend to him

I like all dogs regardless of breed, obviously favor some breeds more than others, but this dog clothes, ribbons and shit that some people put on dogs irratates me.

There a woman that lives not far from me with a king charles and she carries the dog everywhere, I heard her once say to the dog whilst carrying it " are you ejoying your walk", myself and my wife just looked at each other and though was an idiot....some people need help
