Re: Current OoM
Dross, White and Gurney could drop a fair few places down the rankings.....
Fatpot and Yozza could be out of the top 32
Dulla could be out of top 16, as he struggles to get over the Middlesbrough strain of Covid

Re: Current OoM
Loooong way to go, but neither Fatpot nor Yozza are projected to be seeds at the Worlds, looking a fair bit brighter for Lewis though. Cross will undoubtedly drop a few places at least but I think he'll recover some kind of form to prevent him from plummeting, likewise Gurney (who goes on long barren runs before pulling out a big performance from nowhere), but I think White will begin a gradual decline into complete irrelevance soon. A lot of very capable operators on the fringes of the top 16, so you'd have to fear for Duzzatungsten tossers wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 10:40 pm Dross, White and Gurney could drop a fair few places down the rankings.....

Re: Current OoM
+1 on White. Think this is the beginning of the end. Once he stops winning floor events he's done for. His top 16 privileges in majors are irrelevant as he loses first round to everyone and anyone, but the ProTour 16 spot for EuroTours is paramount for his survival. The loss of those 3k cheques to win one ET game will affect him (and to lesser extents Jamie Hughes, Ricky Evans and Max Hopp) more than anyone. Other overdependent ET players like Joe Cullen have stepped up their floor form to cope.thegentle wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 10:45 pmLoooong way to go, but neither Fatpot nor Yozza are projected to be seeds at the Worlds, looking a fair bit brighter for Lewis though. Once he drops significantly out of the Pro Tour 16 and the bare scrapings of L32 Matchplay defeats go without defence, he's finished. Reckon he'll be mid 20s by Ally Pally, which is his final chance at redemption. If he flops that, think he'll be out of the top 32, when he defends his 2020 EC QF in October 2022

Re: Current OoM
The top 32 is due a bit of a cleaning to be fair. A lot of the jobbers of yesteryear like Midget Webster, West, Waste of Skin, The Lethal Biscuit seem to have been replaced by modern jobbers. The Rodent in particular.
It's about time "modern jobbers" like- White, Suljovic, Wattimena, Hughes, Dobey, De Zwaan and Evans proved their long-term worth or fucked off. I'd even include the Snackpot amongst these on paper, but his past successes clearly set him apart from the others. Cross and Gurney are a bad 2021 from joining the list, although they are major champions and deserve credit.
Being "out of form" is only an excuse for a few months but the "modern jobbers" have produced, by and large, miserable performances relentlessly in ranking events for 2 years now (except Dobey who had a good 2019). Has Wattimena ever even reached a QF?
A positive about the OOM that 2020 brought was the strength in depth on the top 16 periphery. There's been some hugely encouraging performances from the likes of Merv, Bunting, Clayton and even Shitlock to gatecrash the top 16. But only Dirk and Devon made a dash for the top 32.
I think it's only a matter of time that those I listed above will be replaced by others like Humphries, Searle and Penis O Connor.

Searle is really good to watch in full flow, and O'Connor i actually quite like when he gets his teeth into a game but he has too many flat performances

Re: Current OoM
Searle has one of the best throws to watch in darts right now imo. A lot of the top players have very idiosyncratic throws but they seem to get more conventional the lower you go in the rankings, which doesn't really make senseTheMalteseDart wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 1:02 am Searle is really good to watch in full flow, and O'Connor i actually quite like when he gets his teeth into a game but he has too many flat performances

I like Searle and hope he gets into the top 16

Re: Current OoM
At least those 2 are young. Didn't Hughes have some injury for a longer time? Dobey and De Zwaan still proved themselves to be capable on TV, I don't think Searle has done that to that extent

Re: Current OoM
Yozza had surgery at the start of the year and came back at the UK Open, but didn't play particularly well. Not overly pushed about him, but I'd like to see him make a full recovery, never nice to see players struggling with injury. Dobey had a fantastic 2019, an underwhelming 2020, but it was an odd year, here's hoping he can regain his form this season. De Zwaan has been a bit disappointing ever since his tremendous 2018 season, but he's probably got a higher ceiling than any of those players. Actually quite rate Searle, but O'Connor's ceiling is probably around the top 32 which is not much higher than he is nowThe Thorn wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 10:39 pmAt least those 2 are young. Re: Current OoM
Current projections have him 60k behind Wright by the time the Matchplay starts, he's defending 115k in Euro tours
