Practicing Barefoot
It's a fairly hot day here, about 29C in the shade (forecast 23). Clothing worn around the house is a pair of shorts, thats it, it's to hot for anything else. But there lays the problem with practicing darts. When you play you must wear shoes, and thus when you practice you should duplicate the playing conditions as best you can, therefore wearing shoes......but it's too bloody hot for shoes !
During the recent Ladbrokes World Champs Simon Whitlock, with his mending broken leg, advised he was practicing in bare feet, as the swelling made shoes too uncomfortable. Considering how well he played, practicing 5 to 10mm lower (without shoe sole thickness) seemed to do Whitlock no harm at all.
So, I'm training bare foot this summer.
Your comments appreciated as always.

I usaually play barefoot or with socks.
I find it allows me to get those ever so important millimetres closer to the board.

Socks or barefoot for me. I'd be lynched if I came trotting through the house to where my dartboard is with my shoes on.

does 'chase the sun' blare through your house as you leave the dart room to go drink your beer?Snakehipsx2 wrote:I never play without my full uniform on, collared shirt with my name emblazoned across the back, black trousers (no jeans) and smart black shoes (no trainers). I play in just socks or bare feet at home, it probably does make a difference but then the stillettos i wear when out dont help either.

Re: Practicing Barefoot
It appears the majority of people do practice bare footed, laying a mat behind the oche to raise the throwing height to compensate for not wearing shoes.

I can't be arsed putting on shoes when i amble into the darts room, it would be simpler for me to take my shoes off the the pub.

I normally play, as now, barefoot, and in my pyjamas.
