A little bit of food for thought....
To all the bdo bashers, to the people that criticise the bdo players, referees and officials.
Some of you expect us to be perfect, whether that be calling, marking, hitting constant ton plus averages or running everything like clockwork.
When you criticise a bdo players average on that stage and compare it to the pdc, or complain a referee or marker has made a mistake or 2, you forget something....
What you are comparing it to, is something that has hundreds of millions of pounds invested into it every year.
You are comparing players that can spend 8 hours a day practising their darts to be at the top of the game...
Callers that are working for the vast majority of the year doing exactly that...calling...
To people who do a normal full time job, and only get their practise and experience as and when they can inbetween full time jobs and families.
I myself only get my experience calling games as when required which is mainly my county games, and if I go to my local league.
I dare say that if bdo players could spend all their time practising instead of also having to work, and if mc's could call high profile games every week, we would all be at the top of our game, but we cant, as we have other responsibilities.
So the next time you go to criticise that players average, or that callers shouting, just bear in mind....we are not professionals.
We do not do this for a living (or most of us dont anyway) but at least we are up there having a go and trying our best.
So support us, dont criticise us for having the guts to step out our comfort zones, to give something that we love to do a good go.
