Thorn won’t be watching. Tickets are 100 HUF’s and he has to save this for extra sauce at burger king

I think I might have walked past the venue when I was there. Went for a walk ended up getting a bit lost and saw the huge stadium. And then through the park with the ice skating lake.

Now that there are entry fees one would think the prize money would go up. Did they actually lose money on the Masters the last time they held it?

The money on offer for the World Open wouldn't exist without the entry fee...for the World Open. Oh, and the World Championship qualifiers. Given the number of players for the World Masters will probably be at least 400, the hefty 40 euro fee for the World Open and qualifiers will basically make it self-sustaining. Any extra prize money for the Masters will need to be through sponsorship.Foggs3355 wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2024 8:56 pm Now the prize money is 50.000 euros I would scrap the world open 19.000 euros and increase world masters prize

Re: WDF World Masters 2024 (October 9th-13th) - Budapest
I doubt they made much if any - the prize fund was initially lower until Winmau stumped up 10,000 Euros at the last minute. The fees for the Masters will give them a few grand, not enough to make a big difference to the prize pot. I think all the little bits of extra money the WDF are taking (higher fees for their own events, getting the Lakeside tickets on sale early so that they can earn some interest on the cash) are the WDF ensuring they are on a reasonable financial footing, which considering the state that side of the game was in just a few years ago, seems sensible to me.

I would assume due to hiring the venue, hence the move.

I believe they had around 650 players (m/w/b/g) at the last World Open/Masters, I would assume they didnt really pay a lot to hire last years venue, but just let the venue keep the drink/foodmoney and maybe a small amount. It was at the Bonte Wever (a hotel) so they also benefit from renting out rooms during the slow colder months. The Lakeside deal probably is about the same nowadays.
