Ffs

Gibraltar Open Men's and Women's Champions

Luke Littler achieved a remarkable feat, securing victory in both the men's event and the youth event. In the men's competition, he triumphed over the formidable Andy Bolton, who displayed exceptional dart skills throughout the day.

The women's final was a captivating display, featuring Sophie MacKinlay prevailing over the experienced and former champion, Paula Jacklin.

Dylan Duo, the President of the Gibraltar Darts Association (GDA), had the honor of presenting the trophies for these prestigious events.

Regrettably, we encountered technical difficulties that prevented us from streaming the men's event, attributed to a glitch in the Dart Atlas System. We extend our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.

A special thanks to Robbie Long, Tournament Director, and Jamie Cooper & Steve Long for their invaluable assistance in ensuring a smooth event and supporting the GDA.

A heartfelt thank you to all participants who contributed to the success of the tournament.

The WDF bans card holders from their ranking events so it's a technicality of when the 2024 tour card activates. It is after Q-School, presumably, when they have the meeting.

Pretty sure Rogg is right

Though John Michael played some BDO/WDF pissup few years ago with special grant from PDC. I take it the WDF rule is more recent than that

It's in one of the PDFs on their website. I've lost the link but it's easy enough to find.

The BDO changed their rule at the start of the Des era to allow PDC tourcard holders to play, but I don't know if the WDF followed suit. They certainly don't allow them in ranking events now.

The Ginge Reaper wrote: Sat Feb 25, 2023 10:03 am Its an absolute shambles. Suppose it dorsnt really matter anymore given they downgraded it to the same level of a weekend short format legplay crapshoot.
He says it's an invitational event so the WDF don't charge entry fees and so they have to find sponsors to cover the costs... which they basically can't.

I think he may have solved the problem himself there! They seem to be trying to organise what is just a regular weekend of amateur darts as though it were a giant elite level thing in darts land.
Roggsocks was right. Nick Rolls explained the problem and he solved it. Introducing entry fees is what makes the Masters viable. I doubt it's a popular move but they have to live in the real world and they are.
