Darts advice

Hi guys,
Was just after some advice, I've always thrown bomber style/Andy Fordham darts and never really tweaked them. I use the Fordham barrels with short Harrows super grip stems and standard flights, 23g.
However, I don't see many other players use this style of darts, most use longer barrels. Especially on TV.
I was wondering if anyone knew why this was? Or if anyone had advice about transitioning from bomber style to a longer barrel?
Just intrigued by the fact no one uses them.
Thanks,
Andrew

Thank you for your question. 49 more posts like this dull one will allow you to enter the comps and win yourself a new set of long barrelled darts.

No need to say thanks.

Don't really get this response? Was a genuine question and interested to see how people had transitioned.

Someone needs to go back to bed and get up on the right side this time πŸ‘

Assuming you must win all of these comps then for the stupid posts? Or have you climbed the ranks to actually run these comps? #loser

Most use the thinner barrels for obvious reasons of more room in the trebles.
Not that they ever did Manley or Taylor any harm
Talk of transition seems like overthinking it to me.
If your not happy try a different dart
I used to have a draw full and was equally awful with all of them

I don't think you should change just because you don't see many pros using them. If you are satisfied with your darts right now, keep them. In general most people tinker way too much with their setups. I guess there is no harm in buying a straight barrel dart and giving it a go, but it would be foolish to expect your game to improve just because of that.

This article sort of explains what different barrels are used for, but i don't think people make a conscious choice and be like, "i wanna hit more 180's so i'll use a straight barrel" its mostly comfort, but it does make logical sense that it'll be easier to get a thinner straight barrel into the same bed.

I spent months recently really stressing about my set up and how i throw cos i throw like shit and have tried to change things up by buying new darts/changing throw style etc and i realise it just stresses me out more and doesn't help, since ive gone back to basics of using the darts im most comfortable with and accepting i throw like an idiot it's starting to make me play a bit better

Essentially don't overthink it just use whatever you feel comfortable with

I was made aware of an altercation between Mr Green and another player during the evening of the GSOD qualifier and asked PDC Security to keep an eye on the situation as one player was allegedly asking another player to go outside with him.

A little while later Mr Green appeared at the Registration kiosk and loudly interrupted a conversation I was involved in by shouting obscenely that he had been threatened by another player and what was I " f****ing going to do about it.

I told him that the first thing I would do was have him removed from the venue if he continued being aggressive, insulting and using obscene language.

I knew of the situation and that Security were watching it so I told him to put any complaint he had in writing.

Mr Green then left the area of the kiosk but not before again using an obscenity directed at me.

At this point Mr Green had not been excluded from the venue despite his atrocious and insulting behaviour.

The decision to exclude him was taken by Security not me and was done in the interests of public safety and his outrageous behaviour.

There was also the small matter of over 200 other players striving to do their best in the event, a cause not helped by the loud antics and obscenities of Mr Green.

His expulsion, although not immediately known to me, was fully supported by me in my position as Tournament Director.

His further suspension by me is within PDC rules provided that the non PDPA member is informed in writing of his / her exclusion.

I was told later that Mr Green was about to offer violence to Security but wisely refrained from doing so at the last minute.

He left still shouting loudly and offering his hopes, again loudly and obscenely, that he hoped that Tommy Cox would die of cancer.
