Hobo, what is the split in popularity/participation between the team sports in Australia?
Cricket
Rugby
Football
Aussie rules etc

And has there been a shift?
Cricket is popular everywhere in summer, although less so among 'Aussies' than when I was playing. Indian migrants are keeping a lots of clubs going in my area (Melbourne) assume Sydney and Brisbane are similar.

Both codes of Rugby are mainly played in NSW and QLD. The main winter code in all other states is Aussie Rules.

Rugby is traditionally mainly played by Private Schools and upper classes and League is for the working class and much more popular overall.
I think a lot of English club cricket is kept going by migrants.
They clearly aren't playing football

Every shitty and irrelevant sport is big in China, that's why they always do so well at the Olympics. The state runs everything in typical Commie fashion.

One time my colleagues and me went to a tt club after work to play with idea of going after to a nearby pub with excellent craft beer and best chicken wings in town. One of the colleagues inform us that he will go to pub but will not eat and drink cause he and his wife started some kind of horrible cabbage based diet. So he watched us all night getting pissed.
When he came home he told his wife about a sacrifice he made because of the diet.
What diet? Oh, that, I stopped two weeks ago...
True story :)
