Paul scholes.

Best footballer of his generation.

He will be missed.

Best is very contentious Knots, a great player certainly but better than even Giggs?

Very subjective mate but I'd put Giggs ahead of Scholes

Xavi, iniesta, zizou and guardiola say scholes.

They back my judgement.

That's not to say Ryan isn't a magnificent footballer, I just give scholesy the edge in pure footballing terms.

Very energetic player and never afraid to show his tackle.

Heh. I'll miss his ability to convince people that his mistimed tackles weren't malicious.

I'd say over the last decade and a half Scholes was a more consistant performer than Giggs.

Zidane also called him the best of his generation and the complete midfielder.

Scholes was better than Giggs, certainly the best midfielder in Premiership history

He was a dirty wee bastard though, all this "typical Paul Scholes challenge, he never learned to tackle" No, he knew exactly what he was doing. I believe he is the most booked player in Champions league history

Still a great player

Thats highly debatable to be fair with the likes of Keane, Viera, Gerrard and Savage to contend with..
