Darting Scoop Of The Year Number Two!

Post by M H » Wed Oct 26, 2011 11:10 am

Lifted from Planet Darts:

VICTORIES for James Wade and Colin Osborne in last weekend's PDC ProTour events in Germany mean that the pair are almost certain to compete in the Players Championship Finals in December.

The Players Championship Finals, to be held at the Doncaster Dome from December 8-11, will feature the leading 32 players from the final Players Championship Order of Merit.

Double-header weekends remain in Benidorm, Crawley and Wigan before the field is confirmed - but the qualifiers are already beginning to take shape with just six events remaining.

Gary Anderson, Paul Nicholson, John Part and Justin Pipe head the Players Championship Order of Merit following 25 tournaments - with all four having topped £30,000 in prize money this year.

Wade and Osborne, meanwhile, jumped themselves up the Order of Merit after claiming £6,000 apiece for their weekend victories in Gladbeck - having been under threat at the bottom of the standings.

Raymond van Barneveld and Adrian Lewis are the biggest names current sat ouside of the top 32 in the Players Championship Order of Merit, with Andy Hamilton currently sat 32nd on £9,400 - just £200 ahead of Co Stompe.

Nigel Heydon and Steve Farmer - a semi-finalist when the event was previously held in February 2011 - sit between van Barneveld and Lewis, with Roland Scholten alongside the current World Champion on £7,000 prize money.

James Richardson's run to the final of Sunday's Players Championship saw him move onto £6,600 alongside Sweden's Magnus Caris - but would need to repeat that feat again to jump into the top 32.

Screened live on ITV4, the Players Championship Finals begin on Thursday December 8, with the first round split across the opening night and Friday December 9.

The second round will be played in two sessions on Saturday December 10, with the quarter-finals on Sunday afternoon and the semi-finals and final being played on Sunday evening.

What a great scoop, well done MH.
One year I got a bike for my birthday. So I went peddling off down the road and knocked an old lady down.
'Can't you ring your bell?' She said. 'I can ring my bell,' I said 'But I can't ride my bike'
