It's odd that you should start this thread as it has jogged my memory of something recent.
I saw a painting in a charity shop. It was a painting of a young boy sitting on grass with a fishing rod, fishing. Behind him was an old fence with a jagged hole in it. Through the hole was coming an arm in a tattered sleeve, reaching out towards the boy. The arm was weirdly grey looking and preparing to grab him.
What the fuck! Who had this on a wall? Is that a known painting? Does it mean anything to anyone?

'City by the Bay', by Thomas Kinkade: 'the painter of light'. 2003.
I have a small print of it on a wall. The brightness has been wildly exaggerated on this image but it's the clearest one I could find.
Check out his Christmassy paintings if you like this kind of thing.

Lovely. I was bought a wall calendar of his paintings one year and was an instant fan.

Sounds curious. A lot of art is pretty dark. Personally for my own house i'd like art on my walls that is positively natured, but I do quite like looking at art with a bit of sinisterness to it
