If you've won an event 3 times there is no reason you can't win a 4th.

Praying for wadey.

+1, its the beauty of this prestigious event, wadey still had to beat waterboy, pricey and humpy in his last triumph though.

James Wade and Steve Beaton will maintain their ever-present records at the 2024 Ladbrokes UK Open in Minehead this weekend.

The experienced duo are the only two players to have competed in every UK Open since the tournament's inception in 2003, with Wade one of eight former winners amongst this year's 158-player field.

'The 2004 semi-finalist has enjoyed a glittering career at the top level, and he will be hoping to sign off in style when he features in his 22nd successive UK Open campaign over the coming days.'

I must have slept through Beaton's glittering career at the top level.

He did win the Masters and Lakeside post-split.

He had a decent 2003-2004 season in the PDC.

And very impressive runs in the 2009 Euros and 2010 GS.

Since then he's been early round fodder in TV events (3 TV QFs in 13 years)

I hope this isn’t replacing the amateur qualifiers. Or will it just be extra players into the draw?

I hope not.

The pub/club qualifiers give the event added charm.

Still 160 players, but a revised criteria.

They could rename it the World Open if this is the direction they're taking.

It's only 3 months until that New York date so we'll know soon enough.

I don't know how hard it would have been for this person to show the bottom of the sheet too, bastards.

Has the forum's own Rileys organiser Clarky heard anything about next year's setup?

This. I’ll be gutted. I don’t mind this idea at all so long as it’s not a replacement
