Darts accesory duration calculation

Post by Jiffy » Sat Oct 21, 2023 5:57 pm

Ever wondered how long your darts accessories are meant to last? It's not the same for everybody of course, but I have used the same set of flightss and stems for about 3 months, they are now starting to break and become unusable. I play about 3 hours a week. 3 (hours per week) x12 (number of weeks). 48 weeks in a year, so 4 sets of darts accessories personally last me circa 144 hours.
I wonder whether I should change my flights and stems more often? Obviously using less flights and stems minimises cash spend.

Very interesting. I usually change them when they are damaged.
In future I might start calculating how many hours of usage they have had.

My currently ones are knackered and in desperate need of a change but the flights and stems still stick together so I can still play. I haven't really thought about changing them until lately.
Plus i've got no flights or stems left..

I originally gave jiffy the benefit of the doubt but the post about hours for a flight and stem convinced me he is a twat

You do see Pro's regularly changing their equipment quite often, although that's likely due to them tending to play for many hours a week.-

Most of them chuck them away after a game, also I don't think they order 10 sets from red dragon every now and again just to tide them over.

I have always kept my spares well stocked, Even points I make sure I have at least 5 sets and 2 spare broken in sets of barrels, I always take a spare set of barrels with me to comps and plenty of flights and stems.

Because I use alloy flight protectors my flights do last quite a lot longer than without them, I tend to always use brand new flights at the start of a comp and change them when they have a bit of wear on them or after a couple of matches, I then keep them for practice at home, Stems I use I only need to change them if I Robin Hood them or they are too worn to grip the flights.

Just changed my old stems and flights., turns out I had a spare set in a box. Darts seem to be going in better now. I don't think this is a coincidence.
