What are the rules now, is it the top 7 get invited plus another player announced after the Masters, or is it purely invitational? As of now, Humphries is the provisional world #5 after the Worlds (long way to go of course!), and Noppy is in that 8th spot which will probably not do him that much good (not least because the UK Open was ages ago, akin to Nicho's PCF win all those years ago)
It's whoever they want in it, and whatever format they come up with. Same as every year.

Nicho was unfortunate with the timing of the event back then. He won the Players Championship Finals at the Circus Tavern in 2010 in late January, involving players from the top 32 in the 2009 Pro Tour Order of Merit. The 2010 Premier League line up had already been finalized on 13 January 2010. In future years, when the Players Championship Finals was held in late November or early December, Nicho probably would have gotten into the following year's Premier League.

Nicho also seemed a certainty for the 2012 Premier League, but a few things went against him late on, including a surprise 2012 World Championship loss to Kim Huybrechts (for the time), where Nicho was just too overconfident and was also involved in personal verbals with Eric Bristow at the time as well, which wasn't really a smart move.

Another big thing that went against Nicho was Kevin Painter finally winning a TV major in late 2011 with the Players Championship Finals, which got Painter into the 2012 Premier League.

He average 94 and I assume that would have been even lower in the second half of the game. As Smith came back from 6-3. It's a totally fair assessment from Luke

For a player of Humphries level that's not enough if you want to win tournaments. Also as I said I'm pretty sure his average dropped after going up 6-3 and that's what he was talking about. Not the whole game. So we are not even talking an overall average here but the second half of the game which could have been more like 90

"Felt like I was playing well and had the game to go on a win, then I just couldn’t find a thing, the crowd got on my back and booing when I’m going for doubles makes the task even harder,"
